Considering the experience at QB for LSU next season, I wouldn't count anything out. Seriously.

If experience was that big of a factor in this, then Jennings wouldnt have been the #2 last year being groomed to be the starter this year. They also wouldnt have been so willing to part with Rivers.

Everyone on here just wants to be different "watch out for Rivers!" "Watch out for Harris!"

Should i watch out for Krags son as well? Hes been here a while. Experience and whatnot.

Too much ignorance in this thread...

Constant JJ bashing as if the kid has not had a decent career on the field at LSU

Idiots posing as football gurus you guys have no idea what the offense is going to look like and NEWS FLASH neither does Philip Rivers he should worry more about his own career

Best of luck to S. Rivers

people bash JJ because of his attitude, demeanor, and the fact that he stuck the knife in Les' back and twisted it after 1/9.

Somewhat true, but Les stuck it J Lee good on 1/9 too (and his comments after the game made it seem like it was too big of a stage for J Lee).

wut?

That's what I mean... Lee was the one who had a real gripe and didn't say a peep or dog his coach. JJ played like shite, never got pulled, and then he stuck the knife in Les' back. I don't think Lee was very good either but at least he handled it like a man. That's probably why Lee is being successful in whatever it is he is doing and Jefferson was arrested again. Character.

I didn't say I disagree with any of that. I was just commenting that there was a few people getting stuck that night.

It is. You saw what happened against Iowa, there is no replacement for experience. The staff thought Jennings would do better vs Iowa.

LSU just didn't have anyone better. The team may be in a tough position next year and there is no depth. Jennings (less than two games) and Bolden are the only two QB's with any experience. The other two are less than two years removed from HS

I think what we really need to take away from this is that there are some other qbs making an impact in the coach's opinion. Rettig, Harris, Bolden, and Jennings.....really a nice array of skill sets. Bolden must believe in what he is doing as well....he seemed to be the one behind them all, but no mention of him transferring and he's actually played some ball.

I think LSU missed out.

Watching him in the spring game he definitely had talent.

But again, there was a reason for him being #3 on the depth chart last year.

I’ve always joked to him about that,” Rivers said. “Ever since he didn’t know if it was going to pan out at LSU, I’ve always kind of said, ‘Hey come out here to San Diego State, live with us and lets go share Qualcomm for a few years.’”

See you later. Don't cry me a river.

Lee stuck it to himself by his terrible play, once again, against Alabama in November. LSU gave him the start and the chance to redeem himself in that game and he failed terribly.

Best of luck to Rivers. LSU is a weaker team by his leaving, but you can't blame a guy for wanting to go some place where he can see some action. It's clear Cam sees Jennings as the best choice to lead the LSU offense.

Deeper than we will be next year.

No. We had Mett and Rivers when the 2011 season ended, and that was it. Bolden saw the opportunity to maybe get some playtime, Mett didn't completely shite the bed and Bolden wasn't good enough to start ahead of even Rivers.

This year, both Jennings and Rettig will have a full year of study, and 2 offseasons worth of study under Cam. Harris will have an offseason of study under him too. Add in Bolden and we are petty much set to find the perfect fit. In Cam I trust.

He had offers from FSU,UCLA,ASU,Vandy & Stanford. He could very well land the QB1 position somewhere else.

Would Miles let him transfer to Vandy, or is he looking at a smaller school?

Mett had Jr College experience and Bolden had started 11 games for PSU

Did you not see the design of the offense out there? It was the same offense they used for UFs defense. They relied on the running of Hill and totally restricted the QBs. The guy was doing nothing but handing off most of the first two drives. Then they decided to play conservative with the slant game. Things like this makes QBs lose confidence and throws off rhythm during games.

What experience did Rivers have? Jennings had more game experience in one year than Rivers had in three. Mett had almost no experience coming into 2012 either. With Cam and the talent we have on offense, I expect Jennings to blow up year one.

You brought up 2012 as better depth, uuuummm.....how? This (2014) is a better situation with a better OC/QB coach plus better talent at the QB spot.

2600 is mediocre, and 12 passing TDs is really bad for a RS junior.

It was the most passing yards for LSU since 2007, and mediocre >>> bad.

After years of crappy offenses lead by an "option-style QB" we get a pro-style QB and finally our offense flourishes. Forgive me for cringing a little when I find out that we are abandoning what worked so well and going back to what mostly didn't work.
The vocal majority of the LSU fanbase will never again tolerate a QB that can't efficiently throw the football. Don't think all the talented LSU WR's will either.

Unless Grimes is a miracle worker with our OL and Miles decides to become another Auburn that runs 90% of the time, you're asking for trouble trying to become a read option offense. Can't believe Cameron wants to run that crap. There's always the distinct possibilty that we could look like Florida did last season with Murphy at QB. Hope and pray that Grimes works OL magic and Buga is all he's cranked up to be.

I still think Rettig will be in the QB mix. I know Cam will want to have at least one pure PSDBSTQB on the roster in case the DT's don't quite work out.

BTW, I don't see either JennJesuSwag or HarriSwag hanging around long and riding the bench if they're not the starter. Something has to give.

2 QB's that had played post HS. Mett wasn't exactly raw coming in.
