What players on the team will excel & work so thoroughly during the off-season and Spring that they will be starting against BYU?

Feel free to include incoming freshman in your response but please limit it to players who are currently verbally commited.

Don't know if this is a "surprise" but I think Ed Alexander and Rashard Lawrence are DL starters with Loc next year.

I won't downvote as I hope this is true. Would be nice to see all of our QBs grow for the 1st time in years.

Harris would definitely fit the bill as a surprise.

If he does manage to earn the starting job back it would make for an interesting story line, if he has success.

Any other current or incoming freshman you think might get the starting nod?

Deculus might need to start at LT day 1

I'm not so sure about day 1 unless he absolutely kills it. For all his faults, I don't think Malone is such a liability at LT.

If Decelus starts at LT, what does the rest of the line look like?

LT:Decelus
LG:Clapp
C:Dodd
RG:Tehuma
RT: Weathersby? Does Malone flip to the right side?

This lineup would leave out Campbell who is recovering from shoulder surgery and 1 of either Malone/Weathersby. Not to mention the other talented guard pieces and incoming freshman.

What're your thoughts?

Don't know if he starts, but I think putting Roddy back on D would be productive.

Weathersby is listed at 6'5".

I don't know how low he plays/pad level but it seems like at that height some shorter, stronger DT are gonna have serious leverage on him.

Can he play inside? We've got an excess of talented guards, I'd hate to see us fall into the trap of playing true tackles at guard, like we have been doing with playing guards at tackle.

If Deculus starts at one of the tackle spots I'd rather see Malone / Weathersby come in as the 6th lineman. I prefer that to watching a 5'11" nose get under their pad level and collapse the pocket from the interior.

Logan will be in that mix, too. If Herron can get his shite together, we will have him, Clark, Gilmore, and the incoming freshmen all rotating up front, too. Could be the best top to bottom D Line we've had for many years.

And hopefully with the added beef in the middle, they can shift Gilmore over to DE, where he hopefully won't get pushed around so much.

OTs are supposed to be tall. They need long arms. The problem with tall, guys that are too heavy is that they're too slow.

LA HS football doesn't produce enough of the hogs needed up front. Those guys get moved to DL in HS for some reason.
