college baseball polls are stupid and should be ignored.
but yes that is possible. I could think a team who was top 3 all season, loses a series to end the year and goes 0-2 in their conference tourney. They may still be a top 8 seed and be ranked in the top 8, but a streaky team not as high ranked may beat them in the reginals or super regionals.
You are focusing to much on talent. Baseball is about having yes talent but also playing your best baseball at the right time.
The best example of this is Fresno State a few years back. PRetty sure they were a 4 seed in their regional and they go to win it all.

Again, I understand completely what you are saying. I just don't think you are following what I mean.
If I were to do a Top 25 rankings right now, my Top 8 would be my projected 8 in the CWS. Again, those 8 might not even make it to the CWS, but that would be just my projection. I won't make a Top 8 then say that only 5 of the 8 will make it to the CWS. I would have just contradicted my own rankings.

No it still doesn't make sense. A projected ranking and a projected field in the CWS are completely different. Why would you say they might not make it to the CWS then say you would put them in the top 8? WTF? Just because I think LSU or UCLA are the top 2 teams in the country at the end of the year doesn't mean I think they will make it to the CWS. I don't understand what is so hard to comprehend about that. Agree to disagree just wanted to bitch somemore because this rain sucks arse
