why do people pay attention to polls? They're irrelevant. Just a bunch of people voting on teams that rarely actually play each other.

Baseball, like basketball, and most all other sports, is decided by a year-end tournament. Why in the world do we care where we're ranked? Even if we did, it's so early in the year - it just doesn't matter.

hmmm...

UCLA played UNC
Maryland played UCF
Rice played Texas
OK State played Ariz State
TCU played Ariz State
Miami played Florida
Alabama played Houston
FSU played UGA

just because you dont watch them doesnt mean they dont happen or they wont be considered at the end of the year by the committee

@SmartestMoran: Mainieri says the plan is for Jake Latz to see the doctor next week. If all is well, he can start throwing #LSU

Change in the rotation for this weekend.

Poche - Lange - Godfrey

PM says he wants Poche to settle into the Firday role.

That's the rotation I expected to go to Houston with. Looks like CPM wants everyone to get comfortable with it now.

From the Baseball America chat

quote:

Lance (Lafayette, La): What do y'all think about my Tigers so far? I know, Nicholls was rough, but this weekend they liked great. Hitting and our freshman are elite, especially freshman pitching. If it keeps up, how far do you see us going and can you see Lange passing up Poche and becoming the ace? Bc I certainly can and I think he will.

Michael Lananna: There's a decent chance the Tigers would've been our No. 1 team this week if not for that Nicholls loss. There certainly would've been a longer conversation about it. LSU was my preseason pick to win it all, and so far, I have no regrets with that decision. The Tigers will hit. Freshman pitching, like you mentioned, is the key to how far they'll go. Alex Lange and Jake Godfrey are showing promise so far. I think Lange does have the chance to usurp Poche at the head of the rotation. The Tigers are certainly grooming him for it. They view him as their next Nola, Gausman—you name it. Time will tell if he lives up to that hype.

The sooner the better. I don't think there's a reason to get Godfrey a Friday start anyway.

At this point I would agree. He's just a step behind the other two right now.

That was the plan, but it looks like it's been scrapped. Poche and Lange both have a Friday night start under their belt now, and those are the two who will most likely be competing for it in the coming weeks, so might as well set the rotation now.

what's weird is it seems like Godfrey had a better outing this week than the other 2.
