Louisville has an RPI of 2 and is in 2nd place in the ACC. I'd say they are a lock. Miss State has series wins over Florida, LSU and Vanderbilt on the road. That's pretty strong assuming they don't stumble against the Hogs. Heck with Florida playing us and A&M playing Ole Miss, State may very well end up winning the SEC.

Has LSU done enough this week to lock up a regional host?

I'd say win at least one game this weekend and that will pretty much do it.

Right now its starting to look like all national seeds will be SEC and ACC except for Texas Tech

I would go
1.Florida
2.Miami
3.Texas A&M
4.Louisville
5.Miss. St
6.S Carolina
7.Texas Tech
8.Florida St

with 8 other regionals hosted by LSU, Vandy, Ole Miss, Clemson, Southern Miss, NC St, UC-Santa Barbara, and Arizona.

I think Florida State is out after this weekend. I'd be inclined to replace them with Ole Miss at this point but 5 SEC national seeds may be a bit much.

Wow, it's amazing how much this season is changing for the better in the last few weekends!

I'm feeling pretty good about having Florida at home.

Typically I'd agree but we need to watch out for Vanderbilt. They have a slightly higher RPI than us (9 vs. 12) despite being 2 games worse in conference play. We also have the series win over them.

HOWEVER, Vanderbilt is finishing up with Auburn. If they sweep Auburn, and we take only 1/3 vs. UF (both of us finishing 18-12 in conference play) the committee has a very tough decision to make, because they will only give one of us a host spot. The SEC I truly think will get 6 host sites, which is a record, despite 7 teams really deserving it, and us and Vanderbilt are those 6th and 7th teams respectively.

Some interesting SEC only stats for you (Guys in the Top 15):

Batting avg
6. Kramer Robertson-LS .364
9. Chris Reid-LS .341
[Absolutely awesome to me Chris Reid is up there Top 10 in conference]

On base pct
3. Bryce Jordan-LS .468
5. Kramer Robertson-LS .438
9. Chris Reid-LS .432
13. Cole Freeman-LS .412
[Anyone else find it funny half our lineup is Top 15 except our leadoff hitter every game?]

Runs batted in
4. Jordan Romero-LS 25
[Only LSU player in there, and he hasn't started a lot of SEC games]

Hit by pitch
1. Bryce Jordan-LS 11
3. Kramer Robertson-LS 7
[Again, Bryce hasn't even started all the SEC games, but leads the conference in HBP ]

Stolen bases
1. Jake Fraley-LS 10
1. Cole Freeman-LS 10
9. Kramer Robertson-LS 6
9. Antoine Duplantis-LS 6
[In case you haven't been paying attention, we like to run]

Earned run avg
15. Alex Lange-LS 3.58
[Lange snuck in there]

Opposing bat avg
11. Alex Lange-LS .223
[And is really tough to hit]

Batters struck out
3. Alex Lange-LS 65
[And still strikes out a bunch of guys]

LSU's best bet is to replace USC in that national seeds thing. Need to outpace them and Ole Mess. MSU, with Arkansas on tap, is a virtual lock to be top 8. TTech is probably going to have to finish very poorly to not give the Big 12 champ that slot. F$U is vulnerable, but our best bet is to replace USC.

The fact that this young team is even in the discussion for a national seed is impressive. If Dunn/Possum can continue to work recent magic with the pitching, we gold.

Was I the only one expecting a bigger jump in RPI? I know the teams weren't great, but 5-0 all on the road for two sweeps on the week is pretty damn good.

We were 13 last week, right?

I have it as:
1. Florida
2. Louisville
3. Miami
4. Texas A&M
5. Mississippi St
6. Texas Tech
7. NC State (vs UNC #15 rpi)
8. Ole Miss (vs A&M #4)

I think the top 6 is pretty set and the last 2 can drop out depending on the final weekend.

Others in contention for the last 2 spots:
LSU (vs Florida #1)
USCe (vs bama #47)
Vandy (vs auburn #135)
Virginia (vs va tech #193)
Florida State (vs Miami #3)

We've got a shot to make a big statement if the 7 and 8 teams lose their series

Still think its ridiculous that OM is in consideration for a top 8 seed. Sure their numbers are high, but their SEC schedule and results are a joke.

Swept by USC at home
Lost Series at MSU
Lost series at Bama
Beat us at home

The only reason they are so high is they played UK, UT, and UGA from the east and swept bottom tier. Anyone of worth they played, they either beat at home or lost the road series.

They also took 2/3 from Louisville, which helps a ton. If they lose the series this weekend, they'll be out. If they win, I think the 8 spot is theirs.
