The NFL is much more run & play action. Sets up better under center.

That’s what their coach wants to do. He’s from the McVay/Shannahan tree

They’ve incorporated a lot more spread this week so far and I think they will figure out that’s the best offense to let him operate in

Under center is the gayest thing I’ve ever seen.

Shotgun should be mandatory.

Because it’s not college anymore, you have to be able to do both in the NFL as the NFL still runs the ball more than college. He will get the hang of it they are asking a lot of him. Not many rookie QB’s are ready to play week 1 and especially not without a true offseason to prepare like this season. He’s learning on the fly and there’s going to be some beautiful plays along with some really ugly ones.

NGl teams like running from under center

They mostly like passing from Shotgun.

He needs to be in shot gun 20 yards behind the line so he will have 2 seconds to throw the ball before getting killed

Did you just start watching football? This isn’t college where you can score 60 points a game without a run game.

Play action is very important, as is a solid run game

I thought it would have something to do with play action and running from under center, but a quick google search shows in 2017 teams averaged 4.8 ypc when running out of shot gun, to just 3.6 ypc from under center.

I don’t know how those numbers changed in 2018 and 2019, but I thought that was interesting.

Uhhh didn't Clyde run for like 1400+ yards en route to becoming a 1st round draft pick? I think you would be hard pressed to say LSU went "without a run game" last year. I also found it funny seeing Burrow play under center so much last night since LSU played almost exclusively out of Shotgun last season (except in Goal line situations). A lot of NFL coachws have their philosphies developer already and they arent willing to change just because a new talented played is added. Also, the Bengals probably still see Joe Mixon as the catalyst for the twam just like the Browns with Chubb and so they feel like playing under center and utilizing play-action makes them a bigger offensive threat. Maybe if Burrow has some sustained success on the team he will be able to provide his input more on how the offense should be run and then we will see him play a style more like what we saw this past season.
