Bay Bay O Ja Ron: The way to properly pronounce former USC Coach Ed Orgeron’s name…Coach Orgeron gave Jon this lesson in 1991, when Jon interviewed the then University of Miami assistant…then called BeBe Orgeron.

“I’ve been knowing Ed for years and years and there was a guy that I knew as BeBe Orgeron,” explained Jenkins. “When I went to Southern Cal with him I saw the maturity that he developed. I never call him BeBe anymore and now I always refer to him as Ed. ~ Pete Jemkins

Where did BeBe (Bay Bay) come from and why do people here and on this board refer to him as this?

He's adopted about 18 kids.

Everyone at the adoption agency started to say, "Here again for a bebe?"

Which got reduced to, "Here again bebe?"

That's how it happened.

Don't let anyone tell you differently.

Where he is from it's common to have a nick name. I think his come from his dad's name.

I've had this "confirmed" by a friend who's dad played ball with him when they were young. Supposedly, it's a name given to him by his grandfather because he was such a big kid. That's all they ever called him.

Down the bayou there was only ONE bebe Orgeron and that was Ed Orgeron ,Sr.

Coach O was always just called Jr (as in Ed Orgeron ,Jr) growing up.

For as big a man as coach O is, his daddy was all of 5'4" and 125 LBs soaking wet. Jrs mom, Coco could look him eye to eye though.

We hear about bebe being crazy and wild. Thing is it's his little brother that's the crazy one in the family. Chances are he has the papers to prove it.

Born to Edward "Ba Ba" Orgeron Sr. (d. 2011) and Cornelia "Co Co" Orgeron, Ed and his brother Stephen grew up in Larose, a town on the Bayou Lafourche in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.[3] He is of Cajun descent. Orgeron attended South Lafourche High School in Galliano, Louisiana with former Michigan Panthers, New Orleans Saints, and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Bobby Hebert. Orgeron and Hebert played on the school's Class 4A state championship team in 1977. Orgeron signed to play football at Louisiana State University, but left the program after his first year to transfer to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
