It is mid-1980s, and I am on LSU's campus with my HS for English class to watch a play performance at U-High.

I am walking campus before the play with a senior, a team mate of mine, on our HS football team.

We are walking by Tiger Stadium / Mike the Tiger area and run into Coach Nader. My HS buddy recognizes him, and over-confidently asks Coach Nader if he can send Coach his HS football tape (VHS back then).

Coach Nader, very polite and gracious, accepts the offer.

The fact that matters:
My HS buddy is an Senior O-lineman, 5'9" and 200lbs, runs a 5.8s 40, and bench presses 225 about 5 times in a row at most.

How LSU missed out on this physical specimen I will never know (Kidding!). LSU's trainers were more athletic that this guy. Some much more...

While I do not know Coach Nader, nor have had any other interaction with him since that day, my 5 minutes with him told me everything that I have since heard and now read about him. Great man in all respects!

I would have called bullshite on this story had you claimed his response was anything other than some form of this.

As recruiting coord, he was obviously part of my recruitment. After being placed on NCAA hardship, I assisted him with recruiting until my time was up.

That man is one of the greatest men I have ever known. A truly special human being.

I worked LSU camp about 7-8 years ago. It was the kids camp and there were like 500 kids ranging in age from 2nd grade?? to 8th grade(Dylan Moses was there and he was a grown man even then.)

Anyway, 2nd night of camp a young kid from NOLA comes downstairs crying right at midnight wanting to go home. Coach Nader sat in the lobby of the dorm with him while they waited on parents to come pick them up, which took around 2 hours. The kid slept on a couch while some mundane Disney show played.

Coach was at camp the next morning bright and early smiling and jovial as always. Just a phenomenal guy, especially considering all the craziness he had to deal with throughout his career.

I went to LSU's summer football camp for several years through the Hallman and Dinardo years.

Coach Nader was always there organizing everything etc. Had a few young punks in the camp yelling "Fire Marshall Bill" at him for 3 days. He never acknowledged them, he likely didn't even know what they were referencing. I always remember being 8-9 years old wondering how kids could be so disrespectful to a grown man, much less one as kind as Nader.

A high school teammates dad knew Nader and had him set us up as "recruits" for a weekend during the Hallman era. My stats were only slightly better than your friends but we had no illusions about being division 1 athletes.

I remember coming back through the tunnel after the game and Hallman greeting the recruits as they walked into the locker room after another brutal loss. I remember the look on his face when he got to me - who TF is this guy.

Was very nice of Nader to give us that experience. Truly a gracious guy in all of my interactions with him.

I had a HS teammate who was being recruited by LSU. He went on a weekend visit and brought me and another guy along. Coach Nader made the two of us tag alongs feel as welcome and important ans the guest of honor.

Worked directly with him for several years. Great man.

Whoever is downvoting this thread needs to be purged. I wish the admins would fix that.

Nader is directly responsible for the success LSU Football has seen.

Coach Nader was my position coach and I worked for him, as a GA...an incredibly decent human being. In meetings with both of the staffs that I worked for during my time, he was always THE sanity in the room. Had a remarkable vision of how "things" were to be done and held GA's, assistant coaches and even the boss' accountable to what each needed to do to make the program better. He NEVER allowed winning to corrupt his morality...Coach Nader and Jeff Boss are two of the finest human beings I've ever know...Incredible souls...

Incredible man...my personal story with him:

I was president of Best Buddies at LSU (we basically got paired with people in the community with disabilities to build a friendship/improve their quality of life)...his daughter was technically in the group, but wasn't very active, but knew of us and what we were about. A lot of the buddies were just as big of football fans as us so I shot my shot with coach Nader and asked what we could do LSU football themed. This man took my entire best buddies chapter on a whole tour of football ops, video room, weight room, locker room, and eventually swung the doors open and let everyone run through the chute, hit the win bar and run onto the field. After that if I needed sound equipment or anything he would lend us whatever we needed all on football ops.

Seriously an amazing man

Coach Nader is one of the finest human beings I’ve ever had to pleasure to be around in all the years as a booster. I’ve seen this story play out with a kid from Houston not all that many years ago. Just a fine gentleman.

He politely told me LSU wasn’t going to offer me a football scholarship. Told me I could walk on.

I had other opportunities. For real, though, he was cool.
