I like Coach JJ but he needs to show a little more passion and intensity on the sidelines. I know some people will disagree but I like a coach with a little more of a mean streak. Not Frank Martin crazy but Tom Izzo is a good example. Watching this team is tough because they lack a lot of basic fundamentals which I believe is more effort than talent. Good coaches make average players great players

If we are being honest we have to give Johnny credit as a recruiter. He has great talent with LSU on their chests. Out of control especial when Simmons not on floor. Shot selection is horrible. They don't get Hornsby enough looks from 3. Too many out of control and seemingly uncontrollable ball hogs. Dale brown made over.

Jones makes Dale Brown look like Coach K, not even close.

What is the rants obsession with coaches yelling and screaming on the sideline?

Not everyone responds well to that kind of coaching (Tac Minor anyone?). I'm sure the players who signed up to play for JJ knew about his demeanor before they arrived.

Johnny just talked the refs into an intentional foul.

It's not so much that he doesn't "yell and scream" but if you are ever at the games, or even just what you can see on tv, when other coaches are in camera shot they are communicating with their guys, showing positive encouragement or negative emotion. Basically, they show PASSION. When LSU is playing good JJ is just standing there, but worst of all, when LSU is playing bad, JJ still just standing there. The only consistency his teams have shown in his time here is that they are very inconsistent. This comes with lack of motivation from the coach to the players.

As much as we gripe about the "written in stone 2 foul in the first half rule", if he would enforce a similar policy for a bad shot rule, we might see some improvement in that area.

I don't disagree with anything you said. This is not at all what the OP was saying though.

I was just responding to the "what's the fascination with the coaches yelling and screaming" comment.

Well Nick Saban is done with football, so now he's helping out basketball.

Seriously though, I do like Avery Johnson. New Orleans kid who played college ball in Baton Rouge, Dude would kill it at LSU.
