When asked about the quarterback situation 2 things came to light many people were probably not aware of unless you had inside information. He went to Chris Garrett and told him he really needed him to step up his game and make himself ready, but CG told CLM he felt it just wasn't his time and needed a little more preparation.
CG = Chris Garrett
unless he meant GC which means Crowton is still scared to throw the ball

Bottom line is that Les obviously sees what we see, and recognizes the problems. I take a little comfort in that.
Now Les is going to have to step on toes, get in some someones face and see that the changes are made. I have no doubt he saw the problems last year but seemed powerless to stop it. There has to be a limit to delegating

You may want to rewatch some of the games. Just because the play calling sucked doesn't mean the playbook was simple.
It was extremely predictable. You, me, my wife, my dog (RIP) knew what was coming.

There were alot of Freshman and Sophmores that got plenty of playing time.
I think the problem I have is that two specific frosh, arguably two of the best athletes I have seen come into the program were nominal contributors last season. RS and RR. Both were noticeably absent in big games which there is no excuse for.

Link?
If some of you guys were coaching it'd be a perpetual nightmare year to year. Start frosh, ain't worth a crap, start frosh, ain't worth a crap, start frosh, ain't worth a crap, next.
RS will be great, but he had trouble lining up in backfield and admitted he had a ways to go yet. He's a great kid that thinks of the team's goals.
Maybe that's where CG is at now.
4* HS ball looks mighty small when you step into the SEC.

You want a QB to step up his game when asked, not decline. Any player for that matter. Its disturbing, unless Miles just miscommunicated the idea, which is possible as well. Every team needs a leader with nads of steel.

Rare quality found in RS Frosh. The QBs we have need developing farther,......and an OL.

Coach Miles spoke in Shreveport tonight at an alumni dinner and made some interesting comments.
Will this year be the best offensive line since he has been here??

You have to step up sometime. Many RS frosh have been able to do this. Some have it, some don't. LSU either has a slow learning curve for QB's, recruits guys who are not ready or just cannot coach them up.
I am not sure I am buying the Les Miles statement, or how he said it simply because I have never met a QB who didn't want to be the "guy."

"He went to Chris Garrett and told him he really needed him to step up his game and make himself ready, but CG told CLM he felt it just wasn't his time and needed a little more preparation." Quoted by Les Miles in Shrev.
I hardly think this is true....sounds like LesO is taking lessons from the spin master Obama; Chris has not been given a chance by Les. If I were the guy, I would realize what I had and let him have some snaps!

Just the simple fact that he says this now, shows how fricking stupid and clueless our staff was last year not playing RS and not getting him more touches than anyone on the team.
Even if he didn't know what the frick he was supposed to be doing, you think RS should have played? Go back and look at the LSU Spring Football special Channel 9 in Baton Rouge did. They interviewed RS and he admitted that he was being spread too thin and couldn't learn all of the plays. Some blame on coaches and some on him for this fact. But point blank, he said he wasn't ready. So why play him? You can be good, but if you are not participating correctly in a coordinated effort, then you just as well have started playing the game yesterday. Either way you won't help the team any if you aren't ready to play.
I serious doubt you even have a clue how much coordination must work seamlessly in order to get a football play to work at the D-1 level!!

You are absolutely correct. In high school ball you can get by with athleticism alone. At the D-1 college level, everyone is a great athlete. You better bring something far better to the table if you wish to succeed or be a star.

Hopefully that statement was miscommunicated - - do you really believe if given a sincere opportunity a red shirt quarterback would tell a coach NO to the chance to prove himself!! With that said how is CG expected to show what he has when he is not given the snaps!! Wake up CLM and try out your recruits before throwing them under the bus!!

When CLM spoke in Monroe last month, one of the questions was about the backup QB's/CG getting a chance. Miles diverted his answer to Zach Lee coming in and working his way up the depth chart behind JJ and JL. The read between the lines message that I got was that Miles does not have confidence in CG. This combined with CG's decrease in playing time in the spring game seems to tell the story.
