we all remember that penalty. the point we made a HORRIBLE play call in that situation that did not help us out. even if the player had not layed on the ground we would have been in a next to impossible position.
calling a screen pass to the middle of the field with dwindling time and no timeouts? you wanna tell me this wasn't boneheaded?

on that field and the conditions we would have needed more than that to have a chance at a field goal. just admit the coaching god made a mistake that fricked up the drive.

Jasper had hit 50+ yarders earlier in the year. Any claim of yours that he would have been unable to hit another 50+ yarder in this situation (assuming we could not have moved the ball any farther) is pure speculation and shall be treated as such.

I don't deitize coaches; I also don't criticize them unjustly. The bubble screen was perhaps a call that neither you nor myself would have made, but Les Miles has thrived on the unpredictable. How would your opinion chance if the back 7 for Penn State had been looking deep and LaFell takes the screen for 15 yards before running out of bounds?
I have no problem with the call given the time remaining and the field position.

Rohan2Reed--Thanks for the story.
2011 does make some sense, 'cos RR is on the hot seat and if he doesn't go over .500, beat Ohio State and/or gets in a bowl game, he's probably gone. The NCAA probs. don't help him at all, and Miles will get a call, at least.
Regardless of how LSU does this year, he might not want to wait for another who knows how many years when the Mich. job will be open again.
It's amazing to see how much cred Miles has w/some of you guys in this thread that he otherwise never gets (except for those being sarcastic).

newsflash, they weren't looking for it deep. penn state had the play covered and it failed miserably. all of this what if shite is meaningless because it never happened. if you're happy with that call in the situation god help you.

how likely is that with a screen that goes to the middle of a sloppy field against a defense that had been tackling well all game? even if they were playing off and thinking deep, just the way that play develops allows them to read it, run up and likely stop us short of the 1st in the middle of the field.
