He zones out and loses touch with the game. He's definitely not a baseball guy. I wonder if he still says base pads instead of base path.

He also inherited one of Jim's worst habits. Describing something in a way that contraindicates what happened. That ball is hit a mile... Foul. I'm relying on you to describe it, I can't see it, bro. That sounds like a homerun.

The golden age was when Hawthorne was lead guy, Hanny worked as his sidekick, and Patrick Wright occasionally filled in when one of them was away. Among that group of 3, you were going to get some combo of guys who were LSU through and through. None of them are perfect, but hearing their voices had a certain comfort to it. I don't feel that way anymore.

I really enjoyed hanny calling the middle innings back in the day. I wish they would use him in the early part of the season when Blair is calling basketball

Absolutely. I was just referring to the guys who did play-by-play

Fly ball to left center
Pause 5 seconds
That one is wayyyy back
Pause 5 seconds
He’s looking up
Pause 5 seconds
And it’s gonna drop into Johnson’s glove to record the last out

I think part of my problem is his broadcast partner doesn't provide a good complement to him. Sorry Douglas and Buzzy. You don't really add a ton out there.

I’m not a fan. I like the guy, but just not crazy bout his PBP, really in any sport. He tries to give to many side stories or details instead of basic what’s the score type stuff. In baseball I’ve gone thru an entire half inning without knowing the score.. now I haven’t listened much the last year or two bc of that, so he may have gotten better..

Bill is one of the best color guys around. Blair is growing on me.

I think that there are WAY too many advertisements and he gets pulled away from it the action trying to fit in some dumb ad. Having better color guys would help.

Coach Mainieri has been really good on the broadcast. He shut up multiple times to let the action take place. Well done, coach.

You can hear the crowd and know the play before he talks about it. Either quicken up or tone down the crowd noise.

I don’t think he zones out. He just describes every excruciating detail of the play to the point the play is long over before he gets to what actually happened.

Absolutely pathetic you get no feel for what’s happening. None.
