I've been listening to these guys for a several years now. I liked they way ( i thought ) they have kept it real.

However, tonight they lost me. Prior to the season, they spoke with the tone that 8-4 wasnt good enough (from Gordy's trip on Tiger Toar). Charlie, emphasized that someone must have made it clear that 8-4 isnt going to get it done. Charlie, totally backtracked on that tonight.

Im not for Miles getting canned. Im not for any coach being fired. My opinion is Maybe a OC change makes sense, due to the fact, Miles/Crowton is a philosophy mismatch.

Im just curious as to why they changed their tone? A tone that raised expectations. A tone that is adding fuel to the fire of a fanbase begging to fire a coach. I know these two represent LSU, but to backtrack like they did tonight is a disservice to their listening audience, in my opinion.

I thought they kept it pretty real. More real than any show you are going to get. What they said is true. In this current economic situation it's not as easy to raise funds to fire a coach with a winning record. 8-4 keeps him another year then his contract is expired.

Pretty sure the concept of 104.5 was their brainchild. I think Charles is the "monkey" of the station.

Not sure. Maybe Bob Saccamano has an idea.

i'm surprised with how honest they are being on the flagship stations especially when you see how much power the LSU folks exert over the local news guys that they aren't even affiliated with. Not to mention the guys at the Advocate are too terrified of LSU to ever write one bad word about Les.

They didn't really backtrack. They're just talking about the financial situation and the fact that LSU has huge cuts coming next year. Charles said it wasn't impossible that Miles might be fired at 8-4. It's just that LSU would owe a LOT of $ just to pay off Miles and we'd need a LOT to pay a good coach. If he loses to Florida, Auburn, Alabama and Arkansas, I would think he could be gone. But he might get one more year still. If he loses to Ole Miss, plus all those others, I'd be surprised if he is still around next year.

They were very outspoken after they game sat. I would guess they were ask to scale it back for the sake of the coach. Like it or not, they are on lsu's payroll.

Probably because they're just as frustrated as everyone else. Pretty much everything they've said in the last week or so has been spot on.

They knew the problems financially back in august. Charlie made it a point in preseason and he backtracked tonight. I think Gordy kept quiet.

why does the fact that LSU and LSU Athletics are 2 totally different entities never come up in conversations about buy-outs?

LSU Athletics gives money to the academic side...if LSU goes 8-4 and goes to a mid tier bowl, how much money would LSU Athletics lose and then not be able to give to the University?

The University is facing budget cuts...LSU Athletics is not effected other than in the public relations realm...

7-5 or 8-4, TAF would find the money.....

He won't be forced to leave until he has a losing season....no coach gets canned with a winning record and a NC.....I like to see SEC and NC's as much as any fan-but I'm telling you-if he keeps getting winning seasons, bowl games, and running a clean program along with attracting quality recruits-the University won't fire him!!!

Miles is not going anywhere.

They know that, and have no intention of ruining their cred in the market, nor their access to a Miles coached program

Since I have to spell this out to you, while 8-4 might not be good enough, this team is 5-0 and ranked #9 in the country. How angry would you like them to be?

Who said I want them to be angry? I want them to be consistent since they represent Lsu and a listening audience.

Don't raise expectations to your fanbase and backtrack. Then hide behind financial problems within Lsu, if there's a realistic chance 8-4 may happen. Besides that, I'm not sure what you are spelling out to me?

No so fast. A lot of big contributers are also fighting to keep their businesses afloat. Behind door #1 we fire Les and try to milk the contributers. Behing door #2 we put up with Les for another year or two, can Crowton, and don't try to milk TAF, because we know they are not going to pitch in right now. Unless there is a total meltdown, now is just not the time.
