According to all you people CJ's hit was illegal.
Two weeks ago after the La Tech hit on Toliver everyone said it was an obvious penalty etc. I was one arguing that I didnt see much wrong bc the guy did not lead with the crown of his helmet however by the letter of the law its a penalty because you cant hit a defenseless receiver above the shoulders... doesnt matter what part you hit him with. Yall are hypocrites

He hit his helmet with the front of his helmet. are you blind?

whats the difference... both are on a defenseless receiver above the shoulders. Explain

The issue with the La Tech hit is that he launched himself from the ground and lead with his helmet. Chad Jones hit with his shoulder.

yes his facemask but not the crown... Im not saying the La Tech hit is not a penalty but by the rule they both are

heres the difference... jones hit him on the ground defending the goal line... tolliver was hit in mid air after missing the ball.. i didnt think the tolliver hut was helmet to helmet bc he led with hes fore arms.... the jones hit was, but it was necessary

More like the whole front of his helmet. And it hit the whole front of TTs helmet.
Meanwhile chad jones helmet his the arkys receivers shoulder. The sides of their helmets may have brushed.
Clearly completely different situations.

I thought they were both illegal hits.

The Tech defender jumped in the air to make contact at the head. That is what makes his hit so flagrant. If he didn't jump he would have had a clean hit.

Doesnt matter what part CJ hit with

it doesnt say anything in the rule about jumping into the air I believe

Sounds like a bad call then. No penalty was necessary. Chad clearly didnt target his head or neck as he hit him in the shoulder.

had Jones hit with his shoulder.
If the NCAA adapts the same rule as the NFL, you CAN NOT hit a defenseless player above the shoulders with any part of your body
i still think he got him with mostly helmet though

the videos basically do the talking

yes they are different hits but by the rule I think they're both penalties... just pointing out the bias on here. If that was Lafell getting hit I guarantee everybody would be on here defending the call

Not a chance. It was a brutal hit, but was not helmet to helmet. Had it been, I'd have heard the clanck of helmets. I was about 30 feet from that play.

Chad Jones plays for LSU. Therefore, it is not a penalty.

well not by the rule you posted. if chad hit him with his shoulder first, it shouldnt be a penalty because he clearly didnt target him above the shoulders as the hit was mostly on his shoulder.
it seems like it would only be a penalty if their helmets hit first.

Once again. It does not matter if CJ used his helmet
