What about Mewelde Moore? Anyone can play pro in one sport and amateur in another. Jamie Howard did it at LSU too. That has nothing to do with eligibility clock for your college sport.
Half of you are making up rules that make no sense because you just don't have a clue. Chad Jones has zero eligibility left in college because his 5 years have come and gone.

What a great Tiger - hope he makes it in baseball. One thing is for sure: no one would ever charge the mound!
Oh, and I really wish they'd do away with the whole "amateur status" farce if they're going to let auburn buy quarterbacks for a half a million dollars. Seriously though, a college athlete should have every right to have sponsors or be in commercials or whatnot.

Words cannot express how horrible I feel for this young man, even though I've never met the man. I truly hope he finds some other activity in which he excels - like he did on the field as a Tiger. He was dealt an unfair hand.

That's so sad to hear. For the longest time I've wanted to see him step foot on an nfl field. Baseball will be better for him but man I wanted to see him on a field
Some may know but I worked for the team and became friends with Chad on a small level. Very hard to read that and not get emotional for me. I just really wanted to see him step on a field one time.
I wish him nothing but the best in his future no matter what it is

Was his accident a result of drunk driving?

He should be in some awesome shape for baseball.

Not according to the police. Was a freak incident where his tire caught in the street car line on Canal and sent him into a pole.

ok in all these people going full retard have we figured out yet exactly what happens for him as a baseball prospect? can he sign as a free agent anywhere at any time? or does he have to go through the amateur draft?

Supposedly not a drunk driving thing. Just a crazy freak accident

Anyone know how I could contact chad jones. I had almost an exact injury as him at the same time just wanted to try to encourage him?

Still pulling for him. I have a lot of respect for Chad.

yes, but once you start your eligibility, you have 5 years to play 4.
they never started the clock period, he did.
5 to play 4, no matter what.
It took a page and a half for the non retarded answer.
Classic Rant.

must be a D-1 thing bc this guy's eligibility should have ended in 1971, but he reenrolled in 2007 at age 59 and played D3 football for his final season of eligibility
