1. LSU (7-0)

The Mississippi State win is looking better and better, beating Florida is terrific, and the Auburn win now looks a little stronger. Call this the best combination or resume and eye test at the moment, but that could all quickly change in two weeks when the Tigers go to Alabama.

LSU can be #1 but why does the auburn loss look better? Didn't they lose yesterday?

Because we beat them senseless and they're playing everyone else close.

Yep they have been wanting to put Bama 1 and keep saying they are the best team. They keep on finding excuses when they don't play well. CFN is falling into the trap of trying to rank teams the way they want them to finish instead of rank them on the field performances. It's time to put 40 on Bama and end this nonsense talk for good.

I wouldn't get to excited. This is just a set up for Alabamas climb back to the top. If and its a strong if they beat LSU CFN can use the fact that LSU was #1 to justify putting Alabama there.
Memphis and ole miss. In the top 10, really. They went way out of their way to justify Alabamas loss to ole miss.

FSU at #54, behind South Carolina and Kentucky, seems reasonable.

I don't want to be #1 right now. #1 at the end would be nice.

Who the frick are these people?

quote:

4. Clemson (7-0)

Miami might not be that great, but who cares? Clemson delivered the biggest blowout in Hurricane history. That, combined with being the only unbeaten team this weekend with a win over a top ten team on the resume – getting by Notre Dame – is making this look more and more like a playoff contender. Having a relatively easy schedule helps.

But...

quote:

11. Notre Dame (6-1)

But...

quote:

2. Florida (6-1)

What is this guy talking about?

Also...

quote:

7. Ole Miss (6-2)

Can the Rebels please come up with a wee bit of consistency? Obviously the team wasn’t fully focused for Memphis two weeks ago, but who cares? That’s they deal, and the Rebels lost. Beating Texas A&M like a drum, though, showed just how good this group can be. The SEC East is there for the taking by winning out.

I hate to be a negabear but Ole Miss will never win the East (hell, they'll probably never win the West again but at least that is possible.)

It's cool that guy wants to dick ride the Tigers but his analysis sucks (I stopped reading at 11.)

My guess is that they put LSU #1 while thinking that Bama will win in 2 weeks, thereby justifying them putting Bama #1, which is what they wanted all along.

I'd say you're right on which is why I quit reading that mess. It's not analysis, it's propaganda.

Auburn is not terrible, despite what you may think. They had a terrible game early against Jacksonville St....with a different QB....are you saying Ohio State hasn't had a terrible game against a poor team this year? Auburn is 4-3 now....with a quadruple overtime loss to Arkansas, and a single digit loss to 6-2 Miss State. Their only blowout was against LSU.

LSU was a 16 point favorite and won by 28 points and kept a high scoring offense to 20 points? Some of you...just wow.

Auburns wins are over Jacksonville state a bad Louisville team, San Jose St and Kentucky. They suck

When you have won 3 of the last 6 national titles, have a top-three recruiting class every year, and are coached by one of the best in the history of the game, you tend to get the benefit of the doubt. It doesn't mean that everyone is a "Bama-lover," just that they've seen this movie before--Bama rallies from a single tough loss to stay focused, lean on their talent, and win out the rest of the way. If we actually beat them in two weeks, we can put an end to all of this talk, but until then, it's hardly crazy for people to think that Bama, with two-deep 5-star talent at almost every position, is pretty good.
