The 6-6 Quarterman doesn't get the same ink as the Tigers' two incoming freshmen -- Ben Simmons and Antonio Blakeney -- at least not yet. But don't be surprised if that changes very shortly. Armed with the ability to affect a game in many ways, Quarterman has a “Michael Carter-Williams” type feel to his game and should gain more attention after finishing last season as LSU's starting point guard. The Georgia native had 30 assists and just 11 turnovers in the Tigers' last five games a year ago and was one of the better players this past week amongst the college players at Adidas Nations last week according to people who were at the event. This could be a breakout name to watch nationally in 2015-16.

Tim Quarterman is good at basketball.

We will have really good guard play this year to go along with Simmons. Look for this team to make the sweet 16.

I can see TQ making the NBA, nothing special but he's a scrappy dude with quick feet. Maybe a poor mans Tony Allen.

Best guard depth in my memory. Blakeney and Quartermen have NBA written all over them and we are truly 6 deep at G. Absolutely awesome. Under Trent, I would’ve loved that 2nd team guard rotation as our starters I think.

1st team:
1 - Quarterman/2 - Blakeney/3 – Hornsby

2nd team:
1 – Patterson/2 – Gray/3 – Sampson

He'll be a 1st rounder after this year.

A PG with his length and athleticism is a hot commodity. His shot got better and better as the year went on, his rebounding for a PG is elite, etc.

It will be a disappointment if they don't make the Sweet 16.

Ehhh, I would hope so but I need to see him play another season. If he improves this season as much as he did last season than He's def a 20-30 first round pick. I don't see him being in the lottery or anything like that.

I don't see how we can leave Quarterman, Blakeney, or Simmons out of the starting five (Obviously). So who are the other 2 starters? I think Victor will be a huge addition when we can add him. Keeping Hornsby in the starting lineup will be tough I think with Patterson and Sampson to also think about.

I agree, especially if he improves his shot. He has all the "intangibles."

Jerrel Martin has a lot more upside than him and he went like what 17 or 18? So we'll see, but he's def a talent. He's 6-6 but I'd be willing to bet his wingspan is 6-10, 6-11. Dude has freaky long arms.

Quarterman/Blakeney/Hornsby

spelled by

Patterson/Gray/Sampson

Hornsby ain't losing that starting spot. That dude does every little thing right, is a senior leader, a good 3 pt threat, and a good FT shooter. Kills himself on defense too.

4/5 will obvious be Simmons alternating between both and some guard play if we have to go to a big lineup. Victor/Malone/Epps/Bridgewater will be in the rotation down low as well.

I could see Victor/Simmons starting by tournament time.

No it won't, he was the most clutch player on the team last year. LSU doesn't make the post season without him.

I don't know, 6'6 guys that can excel at running the point do not grow on trees. If LSU makes a nice run this year and Tim become a big part of that, he could really help his draft stock.

Martin is a 6'10". That is ordinary for his position and he doesn't have a good face up game. He is just a good athlete and has good size.

How many 6'6" PG's can you name? That length is invaluable at that position and he uses it well, which is most important. He is a great rebounder, good passer, and has solid AS/TO ratio which is most important for PGs. His scoring is developing and he can hold his own around the rim. He just needs to hone that shot.

I will ban bet he's a 1st rounder whenever he declares.

I'll help, per draftexpress, averages in NBA:

PG: 6’0.59”
SG: 6’3.29”
SF: 6’5.94”

We'll have to see the rotation, but it may be best to have him or Q come off the bench while still playing starter minutes. That way when we're resting other starters, we still have great talent on the floor

I just see him as more of a SG that is improving on his shot, a scrappy defender who can def guard point guards or 2s, I just don't picture him as a prototypical PG. MCW was a much better shooter and ball handler. If TQ had sayyyyy josh gray handles then oh my, it's a whole diff ball game. He's still improving, I only wish the best for him, it's just really hard for me to see him as a lottery pick.

I hope Johnny was watching a lot of Warriors games this postseason and seeing how beautifully they executed while playing small ball. That's what he'll need his team to do this season.
