First post in the rant in years

How would you guys feel if an LSU player did this? How would you feel if LSU players decided not to play, as long as the Purple and Gold Rebel flag was flown in the stadiums and on the tailgating grounds? How would coach miles react to it? Would he be a Bob Stoops?

I thought Cardale was right on to put that dumb fan in his place for trying to put cardale "in his place."

it's not flown in the stadium and I don't see it very often on the parade grounds.

It's also not sold by any local retailers anymore.

I think players should do what they want. If they want to make a statement, then so be it. They have the right to.

I'd rather these guys stay out of the political arena since most don't have an overall legitimate, informed opinion on the matter.

The same for any celebrity as well.

LSU already handled this in 2004. Why try to bring it up again?

Their scholarship should be removed. If you have a scholarship to play and you refuse, you shouldn't keep said scholarship.

Seriously, is this all that you think about? We have addressed this issue long ago. Leave our fans and school out of this.

It's up to them. I can't say if they will be doing the right thing or not. As long as they are being sincere I can't be mad

Well for one he's a massive fricking douche for turning something that wasn't in any way, shape, or form about race into something about race. Can you imagine the kind of flak Tom Brady would catch if the situation was reversed and he brought race into it if a black guy tweeted him to "focus on football and win the Pats a super bowl"?

generally my view is that we pay entertainers (athletes, actors, singers, etc.) to entertain us, and nothing more. We like our entertainment because it's a respite from the real world out there and I don't need or want the political/social opinions of players or coaches intruding on my entertainment. So I'd just prefer not to hear their political views, whether I agree with them or not.

I had no idea, glad the school did that. I saw a frat flying one in the squad in 2010.

Of course, the white guy got on his knees and groveled for forgiveness for saying nothing racist whatsoever.

I would be pissed if he was on scholarship. There is no stipulation that allows the player to pick and choose when he can and can't play based on social activism.

However, the LSU admin needs to be smart enough to prevent the P&G stars and bars form flying in the stadium regardless, which they have been.

The white guy didn't say anything overtly racist. But his comment was out of line. I always cringe when "fans" call out players on social media for having an opinion on something. Most of the time it blows up in the fans face.

Seems like a ridiculous blanket statement to me

Not while accepting benefits based on being a member of the team. Refusing to play should be disciplined, IMHO (for whatever reason).

I've never seen that flag fly in the stadium.
