re: Can't anyone sing the pregame National Anthem

Got there to late to hear it Sunday. Don't know if that was or wasn't a good thing.

I posted just after the anthem was sang at 6:33pm on Saturday. So there ya go.

A good rule of thumb is that if the Anthem takes over 90 seconds, then the singer is doing it wrong.

I thought she did quite good also.
She didn't add in notes like a lot of people do.

it basically is too much to ask because it's a hard song to sing and there are more wannabe pop-singers than classically trained ones. not to mention i've heard horrific takes on it like huey lewis & the news's amateur doo-wop version before the 9ers-Saints playoff game. even when the great john williams interpreted the song with different melodies, it was criticized. i agree american idol has made 50% of these national anthems painful, but a classically trained "opera" singer like you criticized is probably your only hope if you want a straight-forward version.. girls wanna sing like beyonce these days not judy garland
