it's not the matter of having to pay for parking, but the entire totally screwed up traffic situation to get to campus...even if you are willing to pay the $40- you have to get to campus at least 4 hours before kickoff to be allowed in

for a night game, this isn't a problem...but for a 2:30 kickoff, all you're asking for is chaos

They just hired a firm to assess the situation and are looking to fix the problem by next season. Gainesville and Oxford have far worse traffic, for the record.

It's insane people blame Alleva for Baton Rouge's atrocious infrastructure

we have at least one more day game in Baton Rouge and possibly two....

there are a couple of quick things that can be done to help make things better:

bring back contraflow-going and coming

keep highland road open so people can get to the paid areas if they want to pay

if you have at least 4 people in your car, you get into the pay areas for free!!!!

Before you make your knee jerk judgements about Joe Alleva, just remember that he runs ALL sports at LSU. Not just just football. But I'm sure you didn't think of that but that's ok. Not everyone is meant to think critically about things.

he may be doing a superb job with everything else, but football is the goose that lays the golden eggs....and the LSU football fanbase is getting pissed off...

He caved In to Les Miles on a head fake move to Arky which would have never happened anyway and now we owe Miles and are stuck with him for years.

Aleva the master negotiator.

Last I checked, LSU was running a huge surplus from its athletics. Top 5 in the country.
Just wondering. Didn't we hear last week that LSU athletics is currently looking at a $2 million deficit? Or has that been resolved? Seeing that shocked me.

I have serious problems with him in that:

1. He's raising ticket prices. I don't care what other teams charge their fan bases - it doesn't fit ours.

2. Paid parking. Again, don't care about other schools. The paid parking has negatively impacted our atmosphere and exasperated the overall traffic and parking issues.

3. His initial answer to parking? Higher priced covered parking.... hey Joe, FU!

4. He's a spineless wimp when facing other ADs. No SEC night game in Tiger Stadium? Fine by him... LSU fans hate playing on Thanksgiving or day after but other schools / TV want it? Fine by him.

5. His letters to fans. Yes, the chants in the student section suck and need to go but what else sucks? His letters about it.

You would think LSU would have learned after our last AD named Joe.

I am in no way an Alleva fan. But he did hire Beth Torina as Softball head coach. She took the Lady Tigers to the Women's College World Series in her first year as head coach. They hadn't been there since '04.
I know, " Don't care, It's softball."

That's just not true. He had one good season at his previous two jobs. At stanford he turned a top 10 program into a mediocre one. We just happened to get him right after his good year at stanford.

The parking situation has been a major fail.

Okay, two states with much larger populations and bigger alumni bases.

Skip Bertman accepted mediocrity in just about every mid-major sport and let LSU's most successful coach in Pat Henry walk out the door. He hired his BBQ buddy in Smoke Laval run our proud baseball program into the ground. And even though I'm happy with Les, it's not like there was no way we couldn't have hired a better replacement at the time, so Bertman to a certain extent even fricked that up.

Yet, Skip Bertman remains a God on this board for his fantastic tenure as our AD and Joe Alleva is Satan himself. just about every major football program charges gameday parking. frick, even Ole Miss charges for gameday parking. And the best part to all of this: there's still a respectable amount of free parking with the Hayfield lot. Why not decide to not be a complete fricking lard arse and walk a mile or two if $40 is that detrimental to your family's budget.

This board never ceases to amaze me with the complaints I read on here. Incredible, really.

I thought much of Bertman's admiration is because of his baseball coaching success.

But Alleva has at least tried to upgrade women's basketball and softball by hiring Caldwell and Torina.

Other moves mentioned by posters above left a lot to be desired, including the parking situation.

I would desribe his AD performance as mediocre.

best false statement about lsu sports for years

Nevermind that bertman was not AD for that hire

College sports is a business. Track loses tons of money. We now pay lady's hoops team lots of cash for a money draining program.

Your handle is excellent.

Other than facilities improvements, not much. Johnny Jones may well be a brilliant hire. He is a great coach and should be very successful.

We will never know how much he played in hiring Chaves and Cameron.
