New Orleans kid, 3* LBer, ST player and played sparingly his junior year. Would be huge if he were to step up.

Pretty high expectations.

Would he have to man the 2nd ILB position? Seems undersized and doesn't get off blocks.

But as far as size and blocks, felt the same was with Riley to start the year.

TLDR: Who knows, maybe?

Unless they move Divinty inside or an incoming freshman can take it.

Needs to gain about 10 pounds over the summer if you know what I mean.

He honestly looked pretty bad this year at ILB. Very slow to react and forget about it if he was taking on a physical back or blocker.

Really needs to put on ~15 pounds of muscle and (hopefully) get more instinctive. I was pretty high on Riley coming into this season, I saw some good things from him. I haven't seen the same from Alexander as far as an ILB.

I don't see it. Riley was constantly around the ball on ST, and in the limited PT he got in 2015. People who paid close enough attention could see that he was going to be a solid LB. Same thing with Debo.

Alexander is not in the same boat.

Riley had great footwork and technique. It really helped him play a little bigger because I was among the doubters last year. He really impressed, but I don't know about Donnie.

I think Divinity is going to be the key at ILB. Guy is already 234lbs, can easily add 5-10 more to his frame this offseason, and runs/tackles well. He and White roaming the middle of the field is VERY formidable. To me D Alexander is that 3d guy spelling the other two, and/or rotating in with an impact FR....

We have a good nucleus as I think White & Alexander will be great and Divinity will be also. But like this year we will be paper-effin-thin from a depth perspective if we don't stock up in the next 60-90 days.

We should really take a look at some JUCO's at this point IMO.

I hope Divinity shows, because I just don't see it with Alexander...

All these guys will get practice time leading into a bowl game.
They will get spring practice and summer/August camp going into next season.
All of it will be under Dave Aranda. I know this year's defense was phenomenal, but we're not starting next season static, they'll get lots of time to improve.

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see this. Debo's play didn't surprise me. He played for three years in the rotation including as a true frosh. Never understood why he didn't play before Welter and Louis. Yeah, he was "light", but come on man. Duke was a nice surprise, but not a shocker.

Alexander isn't cut from the same cloth as Riley . Riley was an absolute stud on special teams since he was a freshman . Riley and Debo were very similar except I think debo was a bit more Athletic. Again I hope I'm wrong , Aranda is very very good so it wouldn't suprise me if Alexander ends up being very serviceable . He's gonna have to learn how to slip blocks like Riley .
