He was the top ranked left handed pitcher in high-school. Now he can't throw strikes. That's regression. What else do you chalk it up to?

He has given up 2 walks since his first outing. and is throwing 56.6% strikes since that first bad outing.

I would like to see more of him.

Adjusting mechanics to maximize his velocity/spin rate/potential. Learning how to command the strike zone rather than just throw strikes. Developing a third pitch to go along with his fastball and slider. Amongst other things.

This is so stupid I honestly don't know where to start.

If he can't become the Sunday starter LSU won't make Omaha. Might actually struggle to get to .500 in SEC play. When's the last time any team got run ruled in consecutive SEC weekends to start the season and finished above .500, or even made the top 8 in the SEC.

Similar to how Les ruined Jarrett Lee

Les did not ruin Lee. Lee did not have the character to stand in the pocket and take licks and keep fighting. That wasn’t Les’ doing.

BTW, Tommy Hodson was “thrown to the wolves” as a freshman, and he did fine.

You don't give millions to someone who can't throw strikes. If that was the case every college pitcher would be in the minor leagues.

Clearly regressed since arriving and that's a coaching problem or the stage is just too big for him and he needs to transfer elsewhere to LSUE.

It evident by reading this comment that you haven't watched him pitch. Nobody says he can't throw strikes. His fastball is legit. His command of slider and curveball is improving by still needs work. He.also hasn't been stretched out longer then an inning so far, but you idiots want to put him out there game 3 against Arkansas. What will any SEC team do to a guy only throwing fastballs? They will get rocked.

Are you also to dense to understand highschool potential vs being a professional pitcher? In highschool guys rely on talent with a little bit of coaching. When they get to LSU's pitching lab the coaches show them exactly based on science what they need to do to become the best pitcher possible and it takes a little while for guys to make that adjustment with arm angle, body alignment, etc.

Skenes even attributes LSU pitching lab with his senior season 2 to 3 mph jump on his fastball. C. Johnson is in great hands and will be a great one. But sending him out with one pitch to get rocked by Arkansas won't help right now.

Last night was a big step since he showed control of his breaking stuff in live action work.

We are throwing him game1 against Arky! You notice Jay hasn't named a starter yet.

Just kidding. Am curious who is starting game1. though. Needs to be someone that doesn't give up walks. Arky plays good small ball.

My money is on Herring. But I wouldn't be shocked to see a guy like Hellmers get the ball. I'm curious to see how he handles the staff tonight overall. Does he give someone the ball and see how far he can take us? Does he "wholestaff" it with the hopes of most of the guys he uses being able to come back again on Saturday?

He seems to be making strides which will only pay off for us in the long run on both this season and the future.
