Both Florida and Texas A&M got swept by inferior SEC teams this weekend and half of y'all were worried about PM experimenting with pitching in pointless midweek games. The only reason he does this is to see who he can go to in SEC and bigger games when they count a little more than UNO or McNeese.

Kentucky leads the SEC in just about every stat and they are inferior in your eyes? Why because they don't have a history of being good at baseball?

Does the same logic not apply to basketball?

Uh huh. According to the Rant, Lange has regressed. Paps can't hit, but he makes up for it by being a terrible defender. We have too many Punch and Judy hitters to win consistently in the SEC. Ya know, just normal Rant bullshite.

You don't understand, we left some people on base and Lange looked bad.

We didn't win with enough style points to suit the Tiger faithful.

I mean yeah Lange looked bad but that doesn't mean he will look the same way next start. Anyone who's watched him pitch the last two years knows he can bounce back and throw a gem against Florida this week.

I was excited too but we played Georgia, not Florida this weekend. If we drop 8 runs a game on Florida, then I will be on board with the Omaha stuff. For now, let's wait and see how we pitch on the Road for the weekend (Last time we lost 2 of 3 in Houston)

I'm still waiting for someone to link something that confirms that RPI (which the committee uses) and the committee itself do not count midweek games. I mean, I know it must be true because so many experts on the rant insist that it is, but I just can't for the life of me find anything official where it says those games don't count. And since they don't count, why in the hell do the NCAA and every media outlet keep including them in our overall record and how does losing one drop our RPI?

I'm not doubting you, I'm just wondering where this information is coming from. Do midweek games count, or don't they?

Kentucky has had some very solid teams over the years. I can remember being swept there.

Me, too. I went to the series in Lexington in 2010 when they swept us. It was in mid-May and it was cold and rainy the entire weekend. Miserable.

No one says they don't count. What they say is they don't matter in the grand scheme of things. LSU will play enough quality opponents in conference play to make up for any missteps in the midweek. If you can point to me one time that a midweek game cost lsu a national seed or a host site i would be shocked.

I can't, because we've never lost enough of them to cost us one. No LSU team that had a losing record in midweek in-state games has ever hosted or been a national seed (primarily because I doubt any LSU team has ever had a losing record in those games, at least in the last 30+ years). This team is 2-3 now (counting a win over Div. III LC, which actually doesn't count in RPI) and has a very tough SLU this week, one of six remaining midweek in-state games left on the schedule. We would need to go 4-2 in the remaining six in-state games to have a winning record in midweek games vs. in-state opponents. We have to win all of the remaining six to match or exceed the WORST record that any of our NC teams posted in midweek games vs. in-state opponents (12-5 by the 1991 team).

So if something has never happened then I'm going to continue to say the midweek games don't matter. They do count but they don't matter. If lsu ends up with a losing record in midweek games then I'm going to take a wild guess and say their conference record won't be great either and that will be why they are seeded or not seeded come sec play.

They matter, we've just never lost enough to hurt ourselves. Try losing the majority of them and see if they don't matter.

Likely true because good teams (who can post a good SEC record) usually don't lose the majority of their midweek in-state games. That's because those games DO matter and good teams win them.

By the way, we also have two midweek games left against out-of-state opponents. They also matter.

They swept us in Lexington in 1991...and that season had a happy ending.
