Brown and Root

Very good friend worked for them in the late 70s in the North Sea! He would go spend his weekends in Amsterdam! Was a power house company back in the day! RIP BIG D!

Root = Noot and Babe Root made me lmao!

There is actually an LSU link to the current company Brown and Root. My former CEO at Shaw, Jim Bernhard, owns 50% and is the managing partner, along with KBR who owns the other half. Bernhard is an LSU grad in Construction Management in the early 70’s.

I have no opinion on Jones’ swing, but I can’t see criticizing this guy for “giving advice” to a D1 player. Practically every one of us has done that.

BTW, clever screenname!

Bernhard doesn’t own much of it. He bought a small piece - I believe it was staff augmentation - and negotiated the use of the name Brown and Root. He also bought the remains of the old Wink.

His M.O. is mostly garbage collecting then rehabilitating. He’s very good at it. But it doesn’t work in engineering. He is still flailing about trying to build an engineering group out of cheap trash, but it won’t work.

I’ve sat across the negotiating table from Bernhard a couple of times and was both impressed and amused. The guy is a force of nature, and he is very shrewd. He also has a motor that never stops; he’s in his 70s and still busting chops. We never reached a deal, but we walked away wiser because of Jim’s comments, mostly acerbic. We also walked away with a half dozen hilarious anecdotes, which I value even more. Jim is a true Louisiana legend.

I worked with Brown and Root when I was in the Army serving in Kosovo.

Last I checked, they call themselves KBR.

Go watch Ryan Theriot - He describes the change in his batting techniques when he had a family - when it mattered. This is coming from experience these kids have nothing at stake and nothing on the line -batting swing resembles Bryson Desaham whenever he was bulked up to 230 pounds and was leading tour distance driver. Jones loses balance after some swings.

You got Brown a 5 tool - Jones who you root for. And for the dude ( you want to shorten the arc for a big swinger thats struggling to make contact - watch Theriot or Bregman in comparison from College to Pro.

Speak for yourself buddy

Like the rest of us clowns here, I peaked in high school. Nothing I (or anyone else here) say would make any improvements for our hitters. They get world class coaching/advice on the daily, and it ain’t from tigerdroppings

Bernard Capital Partners is an “equal owner with KBR”. Board Chairmanship rotates between KBR and Bernhard on a 3 year rotation. I was a VP with Shaw and my close friend is CEO of BR. BCP owns 50% and is the “managing entity”.

And yes you’re right, JB is an animal when it comes to cutting the deal. I’ve been alongside of him many times during initial negotiations. Then given the task of finalizing the details of his concepts which was sometimes pretty damn challenging lol.
