no problem with steele this season.

he is dealing with a short deck this year due to past recruiting failures. he has done a solid job imo.

but he wasn't anywhere in the top tier of candidates when the DC search started. only after going through a few other guys did we get him.

yes fatso screwed us.

but i can only think of a few defensive coordinator jobs i'd want more than LSU. the search was strange and steele was way out of left field.

Steele did not a good job scouting Bama. He knows them all too well. He is not at fault for his D being gassed in the fourth.

What's Bielema's record this year?

Solid post though. SMDH

I'm not suggesting I would trade for Bielema. Still the differences in where the two programs are at doesn't make the comparison fair.

The only reason he's catching hell this season is that he wasn't upfront about the rebuilding process being over. He kept mouthing off about badass they were going to be. Also I don't think the loss of jonathan williams can be understated. They'd have beaten A&M with him and be in the race for the West. That's impressive.

dan enos makes brandon allen look good. that is amazing.

LSU fans still don't realize people can improve year to year.

Brandon Allen has made stead progressions from his sophomore to senior season

go figure.

I don't think that's true at all. For all we heard about how great of a qb coach he is, I don't think Jennings got any better from the Wisconsin game to the notre Dame game. In fact I think you could argue he got worse.

And I'm not implying Cam Cameron knows nothing about qb development. Just pointing out that for 1.3 million a year it's okay to expect some steady progression throughout a season.

On a related note, Bielema stated on Sirius radio this morning he still believes Fournette still deserves the Heisman

Is Bielema the flavor of the week now? Last year it was Mullins and Freeze. Before that Sumlin. They all have their strengths and they all have their weaknesses no matter what they "recognize".

There's no doubt in my mind that if LSU had Dan Enos calling the plays, LSU still probably wouldn't have won, but we sure as hell would have been much better positioned to win that game.

We could have Bill Walsh calling plays and Les would overrule him. Play calling isn't the problem.

We could have the best, but if Miles shuts them down we have the same results.

Are you 5? Cameron is a bad coordinator, that's why he got fired from his last job

Who hired him after he was fired from his last job? Have we had a run of incapable OC's? No we have had a run of lame duck OC's. That is fact.

Kudos to Bret Bielema for recognizing last off-season that it is possible to have a power run game and still be able to spread the ball out.

I didn't watch the Arkansas/Ole Miss game but I was surprised to see Brandon Allen threw 33-45 for 442 yards and 6 TD. Yeah, it went to OT but that was with only one overtime.

He's already got more yards and TDs than all of 2014.

2476 yards, 21 TDs, 5 INTs on the season. 2nd to Chad Kelly. Highest QB rating in the conference. Senior.

He's definitely hot right now.
