Nebraska made the BCSCG in 2001 after missing the Big XII title game. So if you're actually saying Alabama finished third in their conference, they did too. Plus they got blown out the day after Thanksgiving that year. Anymore facts?

They are not. The hardest part of their schedule was the final stretch and they went 1-2 against Neb @home, Ohio St on rd, Wisc on rd. Neb and OSU could be very overrated also.

Penn State should have lost to Temple as well.

Good point. I was wrong and will correct it.

I got those bullets from twitter.

Ummm...I hate Alabama, too. But they're a good football team. Pretending we're going to destroy them doesn't really help. If you'll recall, we won 9-6 in OT. Not exactly a blowout. They're a tough match-up for us.

2001 Nebraska played seven teams that were above .500 that year.

2011 Alabama played only three teams above .500.

The conclusion - that Bama has the weakest resume of any team ever to play for the BCS NC - stands.

I would love to see just how blatant this really was. I don't have time, but I'm sure this is some anti-rematch journalist that could compile this info.

As we get closer to the game, I think there will be a sizable contingent in the media that recognizes how farcical and unjust Alabama's placement in the NC Game is. The reasons for the farce are many and they aren't hard to find.

For the record I'm glad it's LSU vs BAMA, but here it is

2010 (undefeated teams)

2009 (undefeated teams)

2008 Florida (1-loss)
Beat a previously undefeated BAMA team in
SEC Championship Game (final rank of #6)
Beat Georgia (a 10-3 team final & final ranking of #10)

2008 Oklahoma (1-loss)
Beat Texas Tech (a 11-2 team with final ranking of #12)
Beat TCU (a 11-2 team with final ranking of #7)

2007 LSU (2-loss) *****only talking about 1-loss teams*****
2007 Ohio State (1-loss)
Beat: 8-4 Purdue
Beat: 9-4 Wisconsin (final rank #21/#24)
Beat: Michigan (final rank #19/#18)
Beat: 9-4 Penn State (final rank #25)

2006 Florida (1-loss)
Beat: Arkansas who went 10-4 (final rank of #15)
Beat: Auburn 11-2 (final rank of #8)
Beat: LSU 11-2 (final rank of #3)

2005 (Texas was undefeated / USC vacated)

2004 (Oklahoma was undefeated / USC vacated)

2003 LSU (1-loss)
Beat: 11-3 Georgia TWICE (final ranking #6)
Beat: 10-3 Ole Miss (final ranking #13)
Auburn went 8-5

2003 Oklahoma (1-loss)
***still looking up***

2002 (Undefeated Teams)

2001 Nebraska (1-loss)
(as a poster already stated they beat 7 teams above .500)

2000 Florida State (1-loss)
Beat: 9-3 Clemson (final rank of #16)
Beat: 9-3 GT (final rank of #17)
Beat: 10-3 Florida (final rank of #10)

1999 (undefeated teams)

1998 Florida State (1-loss)
Beat: 11-3 Texas A&M (final rank of #11/#13)
Beat: 10-2 Florida (final rank of #5)

---------------------------------------------
This does not show all the above .500 teams that were beat by each 1-loss teams. That being said, it looks like the statement of Alabama having the weakest schedule of any 1-loss team to make it to the BCS championship game "resume-wise" holds some water.

Funny wasn't this the same Edwards who was saying that Bama was the strongest out of the 1-loss teams this year? I could have sworn also that he mentioned a time or two that this could be one of the best Bama teams ever, in his argument for Bama over anyone else vs LSU.

The context was strictly dealing with their overall body of work, not how good he thinks they are personally.

two mutually exclusive propositions are propositions that logically cannot be true at the same time.

We've gotten past that, what brad said was NOT mutually exclusive.

You know, Edwards only had about 150 opportunities to say this in the weeks leading up to the final vote, but he waits till the day after Bama is "secured" in the game to state the OBVIOUS.
