Thanks looks like the alumni packages are sold out.

Never been to Legends but the Tavern is a blast, especially for bigger games. Les Miles stopped in about a month ago while he was in town attending a Sox game.
I try to make it over for every game, it's stumbling distance to my apartment across the street. When I was apartment hunting, I purposely narrowed my search to places near The Tavern. I'm happy to say that I've been here for over 3 years now and couldn't imagine living anywhere else in the city.
Look forward to meeting yall this season. I'm usually near the DJ feeding him beers from the bar.

I was at the Tavern saturday. Talked with the bartender about Les's visit and got a bite to eat. Pretty relaxed environment.

My favorite spot is Vincent's. They have enormous meatball sandwiches, and you are watching games on one of those old full-size tvs that hang in the corner from those chains. It's vintage Worcester.
The best place for college football out my way is Texas BBQ in Northborough. The guy is from Brenham and makes employees wear a Texas college shirt. It has an annual Aggie cattle call that is pretty crazy and usually involves some damaged property.
I ended up watching the Superbowl in Shrewsbury, sitting next to a transplant from Tuscaloosa.

I'm not a suburb guy

yeah but you're used to those. My wife hasn't had a winter north of Atlanta

I wish we were in Boston. But my wife works up here, so we decided to stay closer. I don't want her to have to drive too far in the winter.
Meanwhile I commute into Back Bay each workday... which is lovely.

Well the good thing about winters here is that roads just seem to get taken care of pretty quickly. A freeze in Atlanta or Dallas will shut things down. Here (at least where I live), they're plowing and salting it all the time. I haven't had to spend too much time driving on snow-covered roads. Last winter was horrible because it was so piled up you couldn't see around corners when you pulled out in traffic. Lasted for a month or two, but it's never been that bad.
Also, compared to Valpo or South Bend (where I also lived) the weather in Mass is predictable. It snows and quits snowing exactly when they say it will. Lake Michigan would just toy with you all the time, dropping 2 inches with no warning.
I've decided to get some snow shoes and actually enjoy being outside in the winter. You get so used to the temps that in March you're wearing a sweatshirt in 40-degrees.

I love Brighton. I thought about moving there because the commute to Worcester isn't so bad. When my g/f lived there I was always at Cafenation, Fuel or Moogies.
Beware move-in day in early September (BU and BC all at the same time). It's nuts.

We're planning a trip for a few of us to go on Labor Day weekend. Do y'all think the LSU/McNeese game will be shown at the Tavern?

If it isn't, on I won't be staying long.

looking at being at Baseball Tavern for the Auburn game...
need some logistics information, not exactly sure where we're going to be staying and from what I've heard, we're going to be better off without a car...if my plans work out, I'll be arriving on Thursday evening and have to be at MIT on Friday for a bit...

There are several hotels in the Fenway area that are nice. But even if you stay near Fenway or in the downtown area the beauty of public transit is that you can move about extremely easily without a car.
It takes about 20 minutes to get from North Station (northern end of the city) to Kenmore/Fenway. Shouldn't take too much longer to get from there to MIT.

And large baseball crowds won't be much of an issue this year

My wife will probably be the only one in the bar wearing McNeese swag (we both have degrees from there... yeah I'm one of "those fans").
Man, I'm so ready for football.
