Something went wrong with the Fisher deal Friday or Saturday. Saturday Fisher was reported to have told the president at Florida State that he was staying and had no interest in any other jobs. The word on the street initially was that Fisher’s agent, the somewhat-infamous Jimmy Sexton, had surfaced late in the process with some additional demands which were deal-breakers. But after the game a different word surfaced; namely that it wasn’t Fisher or Sexton who blew up the deal but that it happened on LSU’s end. Specifically, that LSU’s president F. King Alexander blanched at spending the money to hire Fisher.

Whether or not you agree with Les Miles remaining the football coach, the boosters got exactly what they deserved Saturday night. 100,000 people and every member of that football team beat down the rich hierarchy of lsu "supporters". Having money should not allow you to dictate who stays and who goes.

LSU is run by those put in place to run the educational institutions in the State of Louisiana, not by the whims of a bunch of people who change their minds with the seasons. When athletics becomes a god, like as happened to some on this website, priorities get all bent out of shape and anger takes control.

hate to break it to you, but this is what big-time college athletics is. It may be more pure at the Div. II level, but at big-time schools, this is it.

And you do realize that having a very good football team means more money to the university. It's been shown that there are more applicants to enroll, and the athletic department gives millions of dollars to the academic side of the university.

So for all of your ranting, you should want LSU football to be as strong as possible, and big-money boosters are just a part of that. It's just what it is.
