So Garrett did the ESPN "Car Wash" yesterday and declined to go on Mike and Mike because Booger was co hosting (btw, dude is a star. We were wrong thinking Spears would be the superstar there). Booger has been very vocal criticizing his effort and Run Defense.

Honestly, if I'm Garrett, I would've go on Mike and Mike and state my case on why I'm the best player in this draft. Not duck a man who's got constructive criticism.

Somewhat related. I caught the tail end of the Dan Le Batard show the other day. I guess Dan was out and it was just that Stugotz dude (not a fan). He absolutely killed Mike & Mike (Golic, in particular).

It was in regards to Romo immediately getting a gig in the booth after retiring.

TLDR version: Stugotz crushed Golic for not paying any dues in the business, being a mild success in the league, and then getting a kush radio show. And now apparently he's got his son riding the coat tails.

A) No one said Spears would be a star at Booger's expense.

B) Spears is doing plenty well with his SECN gig.

I heard that! Dude, he crushed that man. Sounded more like jealousy to me. I mean at the end of the day it's about the listener. Some people prefer listening to certain shows regardless of what "work" the host put in.

I listen to the show every day. It's an act. He and the show kill Golic, but Stugotz wants to be part of the Golic family.

They were relating it to Tony Romo getting the commentator job with no experience and kicking Phil Simms to the curb. They did it with Emmitt Smith earlier in the show who can barely communicate. Did it with John Lynch too

*Gong sound* "You don't get the show!!!!!"

ETA: And this had absolutely nothing to do with Myles Garrett being a baby back bitch

Everything I've heard/read about Myles Garrett indicates that he's a pussy. I agree with OP that he should have gone on there and not shied away from any criticism that may have come his way. If you think you're the best player in the draft, don't duck interviews just because they may ask you to back that claim up.

There. Now the thread is back on track. My apologies.

I agree with Booger. Garrett May have all the tools but i dont think the dude is a gamer. Kinda like the Qb in practice that looks like crap but come game time he is clutch . i get the opposite with Garrett looks good in practice/meaningless Games and combines but not a gamer. He doesnt take over games. He takes plays off alot disappears at times. I maybe wrong but this dude has got bust all over him once he gets that big payday and what better place than cleveland to draft a bust.

As said, that's just jealousy. It might be frustrating to people who "pay their dues", but it's no reason to go off on someone. Many people are blessed more than the rest of us. I could pay my dues for decades, and I still probably wouldn't be interesting enough to get a sports audience.

I just have this feeling Myles about to get humbled in the pros, which isn't a stretch, as most are...Right now he's got the hyperbole before the fight mentality, but its about to get real. He should be humble with the task ahead, and take the hype in stride, but he had to douche it up, but he's young and the league will test his iron in a make/break fashion. We will know soon is he's a star/bust, but his attitude could eclipse his talent in the wrong way, I'm afraid.

I knew I'd read an article about him admitting to taking plays off.

quote:

"I know I'm getting after the ball when I can," Garrett said. "Sometimes I'm not 100 percent running out there but I'm going to get after the passer or trying to run down the running back. Just trying to do what I can to make a play. Nobody is 100 percent every play, you know, eight, nine plays down the drive. Sometimes you do look back at it and say, 'Dang, I could have gave more effort there or I loafed it a little.' But you work on those things."

Myles Garrett on taking plays off (Cleveland.com)

I get that everyone probably does it, but it's not something I'd probably openly said ahead of a draft- even if he's the consensus #1.

I agree with FLObserver. Something just doesn't sit well with me about Garrett. Has all the talent in the world but I think he'll end up being an average contributor at best.

Booger is a 2 time Super Bowl champ Myles Garrett gets most of his sacks vs rent a win schools and will be a bust. I'm going with booger.

For all the hype Garrett really did nothing against LSU, granted he was hurt his soph year and his fr year he was just dominated by Collins.

I expected more for his jr year, still didn't see it.

Meanwhile Von Miller was a beast when he played LSU in that bowl game.

The best ones motors run full out every play. Garrett trying to be drafted as one of the best. I think he will prove to be a disappointment.

Booger is great. He will straight up tell you you suck if that's what he thinks. Garrett can't handle the truth

Russillo asked him why he wouldn't go on Mike and Mike bc of Booger when he went on Russillo and Kanell and apparently garrett's "people" got mad about it, too. He said something along the lines of Booger being an LSU homer and only goes after certain guys like that (hinting at an LSU bias). It was pretty weak of him and he made himself look stupid, even though I'm sure he thought he was being a bad arse for turning down the almighty Mike & Mike show.

Clowney was better. And that's saying something because he rarely gave effort.
