I just saw the last part of a documentary about Bo Rein on ESPN U. What a tragic loss. I was 15 when he died. I didn't realize how promising a young coach he was. He was an assistant under Lou Holtz and Bill Cowher played and coached under him.

He'd be 71 now and it's possible he'd still be coaching. I thought about how he could have been LSU's coach the last 37 years. According to the documentary, folks were convinced he was going to take LSU back to a championship level. I know that's asking a lot of anyone but what different history that would have been. I'm thankful for the last 15 years but losing Rein, and losing him the way we did, really was a big hit. I wish we could have seen what he would have done. God bless him and his family.

Tragic loss. However, his record at LSU is 0-0-0.

He would have been the middle coach to break LSU's heart following Coach Dietzel and before Coach Saban. Coach Rein's stay at LSU would have been a short one as Ohio State had just turned Woody Hayes loose. They would have come after Coach Rein if he had the expected success at LSU
