Is that true? They can't cook at the grove

No cooking, no music, no beer in a can, every person's tent is a quarter inch away from the next person. It's an amazing tailgating experience, would recommend

I'm an LSU alumnus and spent much of my life in Baton Rouge, but it's not truly a "college town".

To get that experience, go to Gainesville, or Athens (Georgia or Ohio), Boulder, or Madison, WI. Those are really college towns. And Charlottesville, VA is BEAUTIFUL in the fall!

Gainesville is a shite hole and Madison, while awesome, isn't a true college town. It's a medium-sized city just like Baton Rouge. Charlottesville is gorgeous in the fall and Athens is the quintessential southern college town.

It sucks beyond that. The atmosphere is terrible, to along with the terrible tailgating, food, and football. ULM's tailgating for it's size has always been underrated and the WORST tailgating I have been to is Vanderbilt.

I was thinking about going to Gainesville this year. I've never seen one single poster come on here and say they liked Gainesville. It's really 100% negative but I've never been.

I cry foul. Thibodaux should have made that list.

If it's on your bucket list of things to do, then go ahead an do it. BHG was rocking the night I went, it's just the town of Gainesville, and especially the people, suck horribly.

I would suggest you go for a game and then report back. It's a decent sized city, but is very tightly packed, and the university and capitol/downtown area meld together. Where there's a game, it's all about that and there's no missing it.

One thing I will say about Madison is that it is more focused on bars, beer gardens, and house parties. Which is a lot of fun, but I do have a soft spot for the more traditional tailgating experience that you will get at a Penn State or Michigan.

I go to the Swamp once a year with a UF buddy. The game day atmosphere on campus with all the tailgating, is great, and the stadium is very loud. Really great environment for the actual game.

But it's Florida, so it's cheesy and the people are just different down there. Nice enough, I guess, but different.

So definitely go, but just know that the people and town suck.
