Why are they hiring him as an intern coach?

That's a good question, I don't really see the point. If you think he's the guy for the job, give it to him permanently...

They don't think he's the man for the job, he's filling the spot while tgey conduct a search. It's not a good job given the financial state of UNO and the lack of fanbase.

The article doesn't say anything about if he is being considered in the application process. Sounds like he will just be handling off season workouts until they name a new coach. Hope he gets consideration, but even if he doesn't, he's young and will get a shot eventually.

UNO is recruiting. It makes sense to have a man on staff temporarily elevated to the head coaching position.

If they don't name an interim coach they could lose the recruits they've signed.

Wouldn't be shocked if Will Davis gets it and Dean is hitting coach.

I'm sure he's being pushed but UNO isn't a dumping ground for unwanted LSU Coaches

Cannizaro would turn that shite down with the quickness.

And as stated above UNO is still conducting a national search, so this ultimately means nothing. Someone else may get the job

Probably not much, Maestri made 100K and was the highest paid in the conference.

Better question is who will be his assistants
