Les underachieving? Wow!! This is a new stupid I've never witnessed and that's saying something. He won a national title and was in another, won two sec ships, had an undefeated season in the toughest league and beat two other league champions in that season, and is currently number one in the nation in recruiting. But he's underachieved and sent to the same level as JJ???? WT actual F??!! It's funny that Les continues to bring in the best assistants and players yet is average ha ha ha..... LSU has had to deal with young rosters particularly QBs and the draft and still we compete with the best but please continue to be a complete and utter moron. I'm done

He can recruit,

So he's responsible for bringing us from no where to the NCAA tourney

CJJ is definitely a below avg coach. He has probably reached his ceiling. Like Les, it will be a long, underachieving journey to a new coach

I just dont understand why people can not be happy with CLM, CJJ, and CPM. Nobody in the history of sport has won a NC every single season they coached. The good coaches have their teams in a position to win a NC more years they don't and that's true for each amd everyone of them.

Well, it's the truth. LSU is the home of mediocre coaching.

There's nothing in the statement about coaching.

Let's all just hate Jones and and conveniently ignore Mickey was hurt basically all of SEC play, and the fact we had to use him out of position with our two freshmen bigs injured. Our fan's specialty

I get criticizing aspects of JJs coaching... He certainly has faults

What I don't understand is the hate he gets. We're clearly trending upwards as a program and he's exceeded most reasonable expectations

My favorite is when people say that he won't win a NC. Let's cross that bridge if necessary. When he took over, the NIT would have been a lofty goal

I think TigerBait1127 is correct in his post. Hell, I think LSU should have won a few games as well last year, But JJ is clearly making strides. With limited depth (partially due to injuries), he was unable to play his attacking style of defense. I'll take JJ over TJ any day of the week. LSU baseball and football was light years ahead of basketball when JJ arrived and he closing the gap.

First of all, he wasn't taking a shot at CJJ, and secondly, last I saw, CJJ doesn't shoot, play defense, or shoot free throws. The reasoning for us losing last year was Mickeys laziness and our players not playing to full potential. If our guys played with the energy of Hornsby, no one would have beaten us

Dude was playing with multiple injuries and an iron deficiency. He left it all on the court and was absolutely devastated after the NC State game. His effort wasn't the issue.

Did Bilas mention UK with 4 lottery picks and just a trip to the final four to show for it? All that high end talent and no championship....the horror

I wouldn't say they under achieved, but they sure didn't over achive.

This is my take as well. They ended up the year basically with about the record I thought was a reasonable expectation overall, but the consistency of play made it seem to me at times not up to my expectation.

quote:

They definitely lost some games they shouldn't, and had some questionable coaching down the stretch of way too many
The Tennessee game at home, and Auburn at home and in the SEC tournament leap right to mind. Downright awful. The cluster of questionable decisions at the end of the Auburn game in the tourney almost reminded me of the Ole Miss 2009 football game.

I expected us to make the tournament and I think we should have made the tournament with the team we had and we did.

I think CJJ can reasonably be questioned on some things systemically and strategically, but not recruiting and that's the most important thing.

For me it seems there's often a disconnect, moreso than many of his peers, in getting his players to do the things he asks. I think having a selfless, high IQ guy like Simmons, who will also be the best player on the floor next year, will help in that regard. We'll see. Geaux Tigers!!

LSU was a final 4 team a couple years before Trent, Jones righted the ship, YES, by bringing us back to our respectable self. He had 2 first round talent guys and his getting us to the tourney is enough?
I like JJ and he can recruit, but in-game decisions are poor. We were out coached.

The most important thing is winning.
