What is the story with the big metal pot in front of the band in the PMAC? I caught a glimpse of it during last night’s basketball game. It looked like someone dressed in red (as a crawfish?) poked his head out at one time.

It's a crawfish-boil pot used as a distraction to opponents shooting FTs on that end of the court. The Mississippi State game last Saturday was the first time they brought it out. D.D. Breaux was in the pot causing a rukus while MSU was shooting FTs. Every time MSU missed someone would activate a smoke machine to shoot it out of the pot.

It’s a knock off of Arizona State’s curtain of distraction. I’m surprised no coach has complained about the flashing lights and steam blowing out of it. It started during the Mississippi St. game with DD Breaux coming out of it. It was probably her idea because she needed some attention.

It's dumb and sits off to the side and the FT shooter doesn't even see it

I started to say gumbo pot but it looked like a crawfish was poking its head out so I changed it to metal pot to be generic.

I gotta say… I like the Boiling Pot.

Unique quirk to the home court. I like stuff like that.

Yes. I have to admit I did chuckle when the crawfish stuck its head out.

It has tons of potential. May not distract the shooter but fun nonetheless.

-Have other LSU athletes dressed up as the crawfish.
-Have former LSU players/well known people dressed up as the crawfish/ chef/ whatever. Kip Holden would have already hopped in that thing by now if he were still mayor.
-Add an additional crawfish to the pot with each miss
-Have a crawfish counter for each free throw miss. The crawfish can flip the counter with its paddle.

Idiot boomer rantards - "Fans don't show up for basketball, and the ones that do just sit on their arse."

Also idiot boomer rantards - "The stuff the students do is dumb."

My son and I were at the MS St. game when it made its debut. I’m pretty sure DD Breaux was the first person in it. I liked it. I’m not sure how long the NCAA will allow the cheerleaders to beat on the sides with an aluminum paddle during free throws though.
