Agreed, best cast scenario is to have LSU only needing to beat Vanderbilt once with TCU losing to CSF and LSU only needing to beat TCU once.

By that time LSU can take a deep breath regroup and focus on one team in CSF both Friday and Saturday.

Don't get me wrong a daunting task but both Oregon St '06 and South Carolina '10 have won it all after dropping the opener.

With this being said Chinea, Hale, Laird, and Scivique must wake up with the bats or we're just talking game for no reason.

On three days rest? Wouldn't we welcome that?
He only threw 6 innings yesterday. 3, 4, or 5 won't matter very much. He's still going to be very good. It's about the guys after him.

It's an elimination game. And let's not pretend Poche is comparable at all to someone like Eshelman.

How big of an advantage is it for us that the Vandy/CSF game was suspended? They both have to use an extra pitcher, yes?

Yes and that 11 am game is STILL delayed, they're going to attempt to finish this and play 2 at 2 pm, then both games 55 min after the previous one.

I agree, you don't want to face Cal St #1 SP so getting them in the losers bracket is key

Best scenario is Vandy, Cal St, TCU, TCU and then anyone but Florida

If any of those scenario's work out and LSU can fight themselves back into the championship game. Would they have the arms to beat let's say UF twice?

I would rather get the weakest offensive opponent in our bracket to beat without our best pitchers.

I'm telling you... you will regardless.

Vandy, TCU, Cal, Cal is what we want.

Not if Vandy comes back. That game isn't over yet.

And Cal St. only has only Eshelman, who we would have to face, but if we get passed him, our chances are much better in game 2.

Easier said than done considering our hitters seem to make a concerted effort to hack away at the first pitch and avoid working the count or making the pitcher work for it.

Eshelman could feasibly pitch into the 12th with the way we work pitch counts.

They'd pitch him on short rest if it means the end of their season. I expect us to do the same

Vandy is the best team in this side of the bracket. Best chance at beating them is if they face Lange.

If they are the best team in the bracket (i.e. better than TCU), we aren't beating them no matter who is on the mound.

2) TCU loses to Cal St.

So TCU is, in theory, the third best team in the bracket, and that is somehow supposed to be a good scenario for us?

The only scenario in which we win even one game before going home is if Vandy and Fullerton are both on or below our level (i.e. WAY below TCU).

You are retarded if you think 1 game makes one team "better" or that the best team always wins. Is that seriously the point you are trying to make?

No, the best team doesn't always win. Sometimes they get unlucky or strange things happen and they lose. Usually, when the best team loses for strange or unlucky reasons, they still LOOK like the best team even though they lost. TCU hit better, pitched better, fielded better and was better coached than LSU. LSU was not a superior team that got unlucky. We were an inferior team that got our butts kicked.

We have an established pattern over several years of collapsing in the postseason. Playing badly when the stakes are highest is not a fluke, it's an LSU habit these days. And it's why TCU is a better team than LSU today just like yesterday.

95 pitches.

I think it's incorrect to 100% assume he will throw in a potential elimination game on Thursday.

Now you are talking about LSU when you were trying to make points about TCU and Vandy.

Vandy is the best team in our bracket. We benefit if they lose. We can beat them with Lange.

I think we are better than TCU and CSF. Did we play better? Of course not. Anyone can see that. But again, one game doesn't determine that.
