Considering..... all 3 teams had better records than LSU. 2 of 3 games were away from home w sellout crowds. All opponents from major conferences. First 2 opponents were both from SEC West and both whipped LSU last season. 9-0 (or something ridiculous like that) in turnover margin. Plus the outstanding play of our running back, etc..... Trying to stay positive despite our penchant for untimely penalties and the mediocre pass defense.....

Anyone got a better 3 game start to season that they can come up with over the last 50 years or so?

I admit Auburn looks average w a QB dilemma (better them than us) but Miss State and Syracuse are both good football teams that may/should end up in top 20 when season is over IMHO. No cupcakes yet....

I tend to agree, but just curious, since it's so laughable....

Name your 3 game start that was better

The best opening three game stretch was lead by Jarrett Lee and Honey Badger with a solid performance over Oregon.

either '07 or '11. You pick. Oregon and VT were both better than all three of the teams LSU beat this year combined.

Let's word it this way:
In the history of LSU football have they ever played the first 3 teams on their schedule where the other teams had better W-L records?

Followup: and won... (assuming the initial question above is yes)

If they don't clean up those penalties and tighten that defense, no one will remember the first three games.

That would be 2007. LSU got off to a METEORIC start to that season, blasting a pretty good Miss. State team 45-0 in Starkville, on a stiflingly hot Thursday night. Next week annihilated Virginia Tech 48-7 (Tech felt they were cheated out of a chance to play in the NC game in New Orleans, in spite of that humiliating defeat!), then crushed Middle Tennessee 44-0. An LSU lineman named Charles Alexander went out during that game, the Tigers were never the same afterwards.

The only reason the first 3 teams had better records was because LSU had their first game cancelled.
Otherwise, the records would have been the same.....geez just stop.

They were #1 in the BCS computers. I understand the gripe, though I don't think they were robbed.

Quite frankly, Ohio State is the team who shouldn't have been there. They were #4 in the computers, and the BCS title game did nothing to indicate that they were anywhere good enough to carry their ranking.

Sorry "Say When" I just can't help myself.... Good obvious point about not playing McNeese State. I will give you props for that oh wise one.

Here's the final straw that will probably put you and everyone else over the top w my B.S. on this topic.....

Here's why it's the "best" 3 game stretch - besides the obvious already mentioned: The "Hall of Shame" bowl game in 1989 was the previous time we played Syracuse and we lost 23-10. This means that all 3 of these teams BEAT LSU the previous time they played each other as well!

Should be a very, very special 2015 season indeed. GEAUX TIGERS! LOL
