After winning the game yesterday, the Bengals plane lost an engine and had to land at JFK.

Bengals Plane

Edit: I see now this story has appeared in the Rant news sections. Sorry about that.

Odd that a plane did an emergency landing in the middle of NYC.

It may be that JFK has a very long runway, which would be needed to slow a plane with only one engine working.

At one time, I believe JFK had the longest runway on the east coast.

Bangor Maine has the longest runways on the East Coast. The NYC metro airports have usually shorter runways but very good emergency services if needed and usually very congested airway.

Is Providence where teams usually fly in and out of when playing the pats or was it due to Boston having extra holiday traffic

I believe Providence is still the airport teams use.

It's in Queens. There's more to NYC than Manhattan

Go to Google Maps and search JFK. It's a solid 45 minute ride from Manhattan in moderate traffic. It has very long runways, laid out beside Jamaica Bay. It is a major hub for international flights to and from Europe, South America and Asia.

I know where JFK is. It's in the middle of NYC. And it is in no way 45 minutes from Manhattan, one of the 5 Boroughs of NYC.

I don't think you do.

I laid over in Manhattan two weeks ago at Broadway and 35th. It took us 1 hour exactly to get to JFK at 8 AM. Unfortunately I was supposed to be getting dropped off at LGA, but that's a different story! ;-)
