I think that's part of his shtick. He's a former Major League player who is most likely a multi-millionaire. I have a feeling ole Ben know a little more than you think he does. Love that guy.

Yes, he's called games for ESPN, so he's not new to this... I'm glad we got him.

Side topic: on the radio call, who was it last night that was calling the game with Charlie? Doug someone? It was the first time I got to hear a radio call this season, and I only heard the last 2.5 innings.

Also, anyone else notice Charlie calling the game with more emotion than he has in past years? One of the cracks against him in the past has been that he tends to not show much emotion.

On that note. How obvious is it that they are auditioning color guys for next baseball season?

Yep, Ben does a great job calling the games. Him and his whole family for that matter are good people. I graduated with Ben and played centerfield behind him all through high school. He is probably one of the most decorated athletes to pass through LSU.

He's a family member. He is very good at calling games but he would rather be hunting. He held off on committing to calling more games for a few years but at some point his wife got it through to him that if he kept turning down the offers, eventually they would dry up. He does a great job. Obviously know what he's talking about.

Big Ben is pretty smooth. I am glad we have him.

Would love to have him as a coach in some capacity, but that will never happen, he's too much of a family guy as noted here. Am I correct in remembering hearing that his wife was an above average athlete, too? Think of that gene pool if true !
