Dude is country as shite and isn't afraid to be true to who he is which is why I am such a big fan of his!

Just now during the USC/Ole Miss game, they started talking about clothing and style and one of the hosts of the SEC Now show, which is setup in Hoover, is wearing this crazy colored socks. Clay Mathin says, "He's wearing socks that look like a Jackson Pollock painting." (then the dude shows his socks off to the camera and it was actually a funny line.

Ben starts laughing and goes, "That's funny and I don't even know who that is."

I just thought that was funny and wanted to post for those of you who aren't watching this game.

In my limited listening to him, I've been impressed. He seems to do a great job.

I caught that too. Laughs at the Jackson Pollack line but has no idea who Pollack is. He doesn't even know how not to be himself.

He does a superb job working some Baltimore Orioles games as well.

Yes, he is. I've thought this since I started hearing him on the LSU games broadcast on the SEC+ Network. Hope he can move up the ranks.

He's become one of CBB's top 2 announcers with Kyle Peterson. Has a great future with ESPN.

I like that he's always taking shots at himself. Pretty funny guy....

I'm not sure he really wants to. His main priorities are spending time with his kids, hunting and fishing. I get the distinct impression that calling games is a sideline for him.

ETA: Guess this was a swing and a miss.

Unfortunately his days calling college baseball are coming to a close-- after the College World Series he is moving to Baltimore to do radio analysis for the Baltimore Orioles and next year will take over as their on air television analyst for all Orioles games.

ETA I saw ronnie rantz outside of the Box last week and he told me this.

He's very knowledgeable and he always makes fun of himself. That's exactly the kind of person you want as an announcer.

McDonald, Todd Walker, Marcus Spears, Booger McFarland, Jordy Hultberg, Ricky Blanton, Ryan Clark, Joe Dean was.

He and Kyle Peterson are easily the 2 best in college baseball commentating.

wait, hes got a shitload of property out in denham and hunts and fishes religiously. I got the impression over the years he would go nowhere. Much less Baltimore.

I agree.

His son is going to be a sophomore at Denham Springs High School next year. He also pitches on the baseball team.

If your source is Ronnie Rantz, you're misinformed. Baltimore is way out of his way and I don't see why he would want to do it unless he is trying to become the next Troy Aikman of MLB. He is making a mistake if he goes there, those jobs are almost always the end of the road for players. Rarely do they leap from a job like that to the World Series.

Did he ever announce this?

Agree, gives out great insight, funny and smart without talking too much or being a know it all. Hard to do.

Okay we can talk about it after the college World Series. I'm 100% not misinformed, I have other people who have told me the same thing in the last 11 days, Ronnie is who told me first so that's who I went with. Also, baseball season does not overlap with hunting season at all.
