But I will go when I want and leave when I want
Nah, your idiotic statement doesn't make you a "horrible fan", but it does show that you are not a "fan" at all...put THAT in your pipe and smoke it! YOUR post is exactly my point, exactly!!!

ESPNU pointed out all the empty seats.
For the record, I did not leave the game early.

Personally I don't give a damn what you do, and I seriously doubt that anyone else on this board does either...

I am nowhere near BR...therefore your blasting me is a joke in itself. Yup, I got to catch the game on TV, and yup it was embarrassing to see members of our "fanbase" leaving, thus the point of my thread.

It will only get worse. I used to howl at the moon in that regard, but the fact is the number of casual fans is growing and will continue to.
It's for many a social event and for more and more the game is of secondary if any importance.
And with the way college football is being marketed and sold that's the fan we are going to see more of in the future.
Having been on the other side of it though, I find the sactimony to be almost as aggravating.
My wife and I walked to the bottom of the stands to watch the end of a game from there once to get a head start and some old man started lecturing me.
He ain't walked in my shoes and no one can question the extent to which I've given money, heart, soul, blood and sweat to LSU athletics.
All so he can pat himself on the back about what a great fan he is probably. Had to bite my lip out of respect for the elderly.

quote:WOW that is rich. So a guy that DIDN'T EVEN GO TO THE FREAKING GAME is getting on a message board and acting like a super douchebag hypocrite by calling out fans who actually attended the game but left said horrible weather game early?

If you are such a SUPER FAN, don't "make excuses" for not being at the game yourself. "Not being anywhere near Baton Rouge" is no excuse. A "real fan" would have made plans to travel to BR, bought a ticket and concessions while at the game to support the athletic department and actually cheered to support the team. Your cheap arse sits at home at watches the game on TV but have the nerve to criticize actual fans who spend their hard earned money and time supporting LSU football.
Why don't you actually get off your arse and attend a game before you start calling out people who actually attend games for their behavior at the game. When you start spending your time at games and money to support the team, then by all means talk shite to the "lesser fans". Until then, you have no room to talk.

I agree with your post.
And...with as competitive as recruiting is, why wouldn't an opposing coach pull up a broadcast of an LSU game and show the recruit all the empty seats in Tiger Stadium in the 3rd qtr of a close SEC game?
At some point, its going to hurt LSU in recruiting - if it hasn't already - along with the reputation the LSU fanbase is getting as spoiled, unreasonable and unsupportive. The attendance by LSU fans at the 2007 SEC Championship game was embarrassing and pathetic.

F-you dude. You have NO F-ing idea what I am doing. I happen to have a job that takes me all over the place all the time. I am making my $$$ and feeding my family. Don't bash me you sack of shite. Who the frick are you Mr. Wonderful???
This board is about opinion. I have a right to my opinion, as you do. I saw what I saw last night, and quite frankly I am glad that TV cameras showed what they showed. We have good fans and bad fans. When I am in BR, then my purple and gold arse is at the game with my family and I stay the whole game. I attend as many events as I can, and every single year I even make a trip to Hoover to the SEC Baseball Tournament just to get away from work for a long weekend. I do what I can, what my work allows me to do. That's a far cry from what happened last night. That's about all I have to say about it...

quote:Oh, so you have your "excuses" too as to why you don't go to games etc. I'm sure all those fans that left the rainy game early had their excuses as to why they left early. You have absolutely no right to call out fans for leaving an rainy game early when you yourself didn't sit through the rainy game. Who knows, had you actually been there you may have left early b/c your family that you work so hard to feed wanted to leave or your work required you leave early.
I attend as many events as I can

Well dont bash people that go to the games and want to leave early. What if they had to be at work at 6am this morning so they could support their family? Are they allowed to leave the game early or is that a no no???

Be sure and have a great day.

Well said. I also think that with ticket prices the way they are(taf and all) that alot of the blue collar people dont have season tickets anymore( which was our rowdy fanbase). These rich assholes are too good to get wet.

Here's my $.02:
There's no doubt that the crowds are more subdued now than they were even 10 years ago. There's usually only one big game a year that the crowd really shows up for instead of being loud for every game. I'm of the opinion that the current structure of LSU football is necessary to help us win championships. So, we have 2 options:
1. Have people who can afford to pay these fees continue to be the backbone of LSU football, allowing us to be able to keep up with the best teams in the country with facilities, recruiting, etc. With this comes the price of a white collar Tiger Stadium that won't be as loud. In this scenario, LSU will compete for an SEC championship most years and a National Championship 1-3 times a decade or perhaps more.
2. Get rid of TAF, give Tiger Stadium back to the blue collar workers who will show up and make Tiger Stadium the intimidating place it once was. We'll likely become much less competitive under this scenario.
While I wish both options would co-exist, I know reality dictates that they can't; so I'm much happier to have a subdued Tiger Stadium with an LSU football team that competes for championships more often than not. I also think that this whole issue is rather tired, and really isn't as important as most make it out to be. The better football team will win on that night more often than not regardless of crowd noise.

You are a worthless pile of feces. I would not piss on you if you were on fire. May all your teeth fall out except one, and may it have a terrible toothache.

Actually you said alot more silly shite to start this thread.
I dont blame a soul for leaving, those that have traveled a long way, those that have children or wives that are miserable. I would like to think that our "LSU education" has taught us that the happiness of our children and families has a little more to do with being a solid man than hanging out at a ball game.
But different strokes I suppose.
I have no need to defend myself to you or others, but I will offer this....me, my wife and 12 year old left with 1 minute left in the game. We were there till the end of Troy as well. BUT...if my child ever wanted to leave because of being cold or wet or sick....we are gone.
AND finally, IF you ever actually make it to a game with your busy schedule and all, a nd see me sneaking out a quarter early....come on down the stairs and let me know what you really think. I am certain you will be as quiet as a church mouse.
