Dramatically drops your odds on the third try.

Remember 2000, when Arkansas beat LSU in the Championship game of the tourney.

Like it or not, odds are not in LSU's favor tomorrow.

Any sports streak's continuation odds get worse the longer the streak goes. But odds won't stop Thornton or Mitchell and won't shoot 3s against Temple.

If you have already beaten a team two times, odds are you are better than them. So, odds are, you should beat them when you play them a third time.

ETA: It's not like the team that lost the first two games is the only one allowed to make adjustments.

Lines in Vegas are set to influence betting. If more people buy into B.S., of course it will influence the line.

Are your odds worse for beating a team for the third time instead of once? Sure. Are the odds suddenly against you because you beat a team twice already? Absolutely not.

3beating the same team 3 times in a season is no big deal. What bothers me is Moo State really needs the win and we don't

I'll give you odds on whether you can explain this principle to the satisfaction of future posters....

No, it doesn't. Flipping a coin and having it come up heads twice in a row does not reduce the odds of the third flip also coming up heads.

I will bet money, without having done any research, that in games in which the teams are playing for the third time that season and one of the teams has swept the first two, the team that won the first two has a winning record in the third games and the team that lost the first two has a losing record in the third games.

It was the semifinal, not the championship. And I can cite 2003, when we beat Arkansas in the SEC tournament after sweeping them in the regular season, as a more recent example that you're wrong.

I have no idea what the odds are. I do know that the fact we've already beaten them twice has little or nothing to do with it, though. There may be the small possibility of a slight psychological effect from the previous two games, but that will be negligible. Far more important in terms of intangibles will be the fact that we are already a lock to be in the NCAA tournament while they are still fighting for an invitation. As with virtually every game, the winner will be the team that is playing and coaching the best that day.

1986? They also beat us three times that year.

But we got 'em on the 4th try
