Thanks.

this is not going to happen but...
We beat Bama...Bama loses one other SEC game, we win the rest of our SEC games, we beat Fla in the SEC championship...we go to a BCS bowl.

Or beat Bama and Bama gets beat in the SEC championship. A few other teams ahead would have to lose.

If we win out and even if bama and florida play in the sec game, Florida wins, not far fetched for them to go to the ship. At that point we prolly slide in the sugar bowl.

Or, win out and Georgia loses to Georgia Tech and Bama gets absolutely annihilated by Florida and just looks terrible down the stretch. We would need to be in the top 8 or so in the BCS final rankings and ahead of Bama because of the head to head scenario.

Anything is possible. Just look what happened last year.

if we lose this weekend then we have to pray we win the rest of our games, including Ole' Miss to even have a shot at the Peach Bowl, which I would be happy with...

We could actually get to a BCS bowl game if we beat Bama and Bama loses in the SEC championship game, add in additional losses by Big 12 teams such as Oklahoma, Texas as well as an upset of Ohio State in a game. We could still get an at large bid like 2006.

I predict another cluster at the top of the polls this year. Not that we get into the championship but I do think chaos will ensue again.

1) We have to win the rest of our games.
2) Given 1), then either of the following needs to happen:
a) Georgia loses a game... They still have to play Auburn and GT. If we have the same record as UGa, they will go on account of their head to head win over us.
b) Bama loses to either MSU or Auburn, which sends us to the SEC CG. Once there, we would have to beat Florida. We might get in at 10-2, but have no chance at 10-3.

We have to win, Pitt has to beat West Virgina, Missouri has to lose

shite that was last year.

Just beat Bama and pull for Auburn to do the same and SEC championship here we come.

win the rest of our games and hopefully get an at large bid.
or
win the rest of our games, hope bama slips up, win the SEC.
or be realistic and play in the Outback bowl

Another possibily would be if:

LSU wins out.

Bama loses to LSU, then wins out and wins the SECCG over Fla.

Fla. loses to Fla. St. (out of conference game) and loses the SECCG to Bama. Overall record would be 10-3 (plus they would be coming off two straight losses, which makes them less attractive as an at-large)

UGA loses a game down the stretch (possibly to Ga. Tech). Overall record would be 9-3 (tough to get an at-large with only 9 wins)

That means that Alabama would be SEC Champ at 12-1

LSU would be 10-2, and could possibly get an at-large bid. If Bama plays for the NC then Sugar would be looking for an SEC school as an at-large. If Bama does not play for a NC then Rose, Fiesta or Orange could take them as an at-large.

(There will be a test on all this later)

For what its worth I would rather go to Tampa or Orlando and play Ohio St. than go back to the Sugar and possibly play a Utah or Boise St. Now if the Sugar got a matchup against say a Texas or Oklahoma then obviously the Sugar would be more fun.

our best bet for a BCS comes down to us winning out.

Bama loses to us then UF in SECCG

Sugar bowl has never taken a team coming off of a loss. Even though Bama won the west, we would have the same record with the head2head win. Assuming UGA wins out, it would be a pick between us and UGA, whoever has the higher BCS%

I got that, I was just coming up with another (far more complicated) possibility.

True but LSU has been to NOLA 2 years in a row (this would make three), and the Bama fanbase would still be excited about a BCS bid I think they may take them even after losing the SECCG (especially if it is a competitive game).

Head to head really doesn't have anything to do with it, Auburn had the head to head over us in 2006 and we still went. Its about who brings fans and attracts a TV audience.
