It appears as though last years team was a better team. The odd thing is it is essentially the same team minus Mickey and Martin. And the common thought is that Simmons should be an upgrade over one of those slots.

Was J Martin more valuable two this team than Simmons is?

It appears that he was at the very least severely under-rated.

Well Martin would at least attempt shots & take the ball strong to the goal.

miss mickey's rim protection and martin's individual scoring ability

simmons has a better handle on replacing Mickey's production but he is short of Martin's midrange shooting ability

a lot of teams will play zone to negate simmons quickness and we dont have the penetrator to break into the heart of the zone. simmons isnt a good enough shooter to have to guard him outside so the lane is completely clogged up

Martin? Simmons is better in every facet except shooting. However, Simmons doesn't have Mickey. Mickey and Simmons would be literally an unstoppable force of college basketball.

idk...Mickey disappeared down the stretch last year and we still competed with some good teams.

Just my opinion, but I feel like Martin was more physical on both offense and defense.I think Mickey and Simmons would clog up the lane too much.

mickey had shoulder and ankle injuries which really fricked with his game. he was on fumes by the end of sec play but regrouped a little heading into the tournament.

martin definitely had his moments (like the florida game with that breakaway eastbay) but mick would be the better complement with his shot-blocking, rebounding ability. he was also an adequate midrange shooter from the FT line area.

mickey wasn't a great defensive player by any stretch but his athleticism masked a lot of that and manifested itself in shot blocking and rebounds. can't rely on ben and quarterman to lead us on the glass so victor will be a huge addition in that department.

Ben Simmons had 43-14-7 just a week ago. This team has major problems, Ben Simmons isn't one of them. He is in a different class from Martin, no disrespect to Martin.

Last years team greatly underachieved. So many horrible losses. That team was better than a first round exit.
