Purple is the dominant color in Minnesota because of the Vikings. You see ten times more viking colors than Gopher colors. Minnesota generally pays attn. to the U. in terms of its academics and its hockey team.
And as to the fans knowing the LSU football team- Where I live, I get more LSU games per year than Gopher games!

I was jogging before the 1pm game Sunday right in front of Tiger Stadium and a Baylor fan pulled over and asked me where the "Tiger Pit" is. I pointed the right direction and told him "cage" not "pit." Pit conjuers up images of gladitors fighting. We laughed and ended up talking. He was very impressed with LSU (or just being nice).

i went to both schools. baylor does have live bears and they are kept in pits. baylor has a gorgeous campus and buildings. but LSU athtletic facilities blows them away. it ain't even close.
