Very solid game all around, and it sounded like we got better as the game went on. I'm looking forward to seeing these highlights.

Scrolling through the LSU twitter, it sounds like the team had good ball movement, getting everyone involved. Also, shot about 50% from the field. Sounds like a really good first game, especially considering that they have only been practicing for a couple of weeks.

I need final stat lines. That jank website won't update past 3 minutes left in the third quarter.

Thank you my man.

Ben Simmons: 22/10/4/2/3. That's just beautiful. Sampson needs to chill with the fouls though. 3 in limited minutes is too much.

Yeah, not a great shooting performance for Simmons (7/17), but all in all, a very positive opener for the team.

Things I noticed from that Stat sheet...

Sampson had no rebounds in over 20 minutes of play.

Bridgewater didn't play at all. Does anyone know why?

Simmons is a beast.

What the heck is EFF?

Sampson is a guard. I don't know why no rebounds is a big deal. Did you think he's a big man?

Bridge hurt his shoulder. He's being held out as a precaution. Could play later.

Troof.

I think it's supposed to be PER.

Yes, my apologies. I thought Sampson was a power forward.

You must be thinking about Victor. He wont be around until January.

Looks like it was a pretty fast-paced game. Newcastle put up 75 shots! I doubt there were a ton of half court sets

Hornsby is just solid. You can almost book it that he will get double-figure scoring every night

It looks like Simmons has the ball a ton, and he attacked the basket when he did. 11 FTs

LSU got out rebounded. Not surprising, but they need Victor ASAP.

Robinson - only 2 points. But he had 6 rebounds in 12 minutes. We don't need him to be a scorer, but he's got to have a presence in the paint. It looks like he did, at least on the glass

Newcastle had 34 points in the paint. I'm worried that interior defense/rebounding will be LSU's Achilles heel.

Blakeney had a very good all around game, especially with 5 rebounds. The guards are going to have to help out in that dept.

Best stat for LSU - only 9 TOs. With LSU's fast pace style, I can live with 9 per game

Perimeter shooting is the one area he can improve upon but he'll make everyone better. And I expect he'll do what he needs to improve his shooting.

This extremely long analysis based solely on a stat sheet is why you continuously assume the role of message board clown. Your post is stupid.

Right again. I was thinking of Victor.

Another question: Where's Gray?

That's a shame. He, more than anyone on this team, would benefit from this experience. Last year he played too much like he was leading an AAU and not an SEC team.
