I guarantee you any football coach that would embarrass the fans with this type of product would have been tarred and feathered and run out of town on a frickin rail.

Obviously. Not sure comparing the two situations makes a lot of sense though. And spare me the "well why shouldn't it, why shouldn't our standards be the same... rant." We don't have 93,000 seat basketball arena that pays for every sport.

If anyone wants to feel really bad, watch this Louisville-Syracuse game for a few minutes.

Do you realize how long ago that was and how little significance that has? I realize you're probably 60 and went to games back in the day when the arena was hopping and you can tell me all about Rudy Macklin and those teams, but look, nobody cares and that really doesn't matter today.

Now you're just being bi-polar dude. You said we never experienced any significant success in our program. I stated that we did. And the conf. overall was better back then so it was tougher to do. We have had success and can again. If our administration wants it bad enough.

TA, why do you think we can't make it like the 80s again with a good coach?

I'm not saying we can't, but I just don't see what talking about basketball today based on events 30 plus years ago has to do with anything. The landscape is night and day. The attitude of the program is more baseball oriented than basketball, which wasn't the case then. It can change, but it will always be secondary at best here.

I feel like we can be a program like Florida, Texas, or Ohio State. Just usually good. Not even great all the time.

Which I still stand by. Our success is largely a function of successful individual players, but our program overall, particularly over the last 20 years, hasn't really been that great.

I was using football as a pure example. Our standards SHOULD be much higher than what YOU and some others believe about LSU Basketball. I was around in the 80's and 90's and we were at least respectable. This shite product Trent has put together will NEVER match up to the products of the Dale Brown and Brady eras.

Maybe, but two of those teams success is pretty recent in UF and OSU.

thats kinda what I meant. We should be able to have success like Florida has since 1994. Hell, I'd be happy with even less. Since 1994 they've had:

13 NCAA appearances
5 Sweet 16s
4 elite 8's
3 final fours
2 titles

take away the titles and even one final 4 appearance and THAT would be great for LSU from where I'm sitting

I disagree. I think they hoped Trent would be the man to recapture our past success and bring our program into the future. They're paying him a salary that backs that up. He just hasnt got it done.

Could you please explain to me why LSU can't excel in Football, Basketball, and Baseball? This is a pure myth. Baseball has absolutely NOTHING to do with having a respectable basketball program. Maybe you could enlighten us?

I think we are all wasting our time trying to argue with TA. He is obviously a Trent die hard or Trent's wife. Neither of which will admit our basketball program has hit rock bottom.
