However, we'll have to wait well over 2 months to know what this team can really do. This might be the easiest OOC schedule we've ever faced, and that's saying a lot.

Probably a good year to have the easy OOC. Breaking in quite a few newbies.

Yes. It will be really helpful that they will all be untested going into conference play...

No doubt. But on the bright side at least they will be getting comfortable adapting to the bigger crowd. Its all a process. Either way I'm ready for a chicken tender basket and my usual seat

Well it's better than their confidence being shot before SEC play even starts.

It put a hurting on the wallet last year. Or maybe that was my pregame routine at walkons . But I can't help it. The smells at the ballpark...

I'm not going to say our OOC schedule is good, but it's not as bad as even I have been saying.
Sac St and Ball St are expected to contend for their conference titles. Ball St is second to Kent St in their conference for pro prospects.

The Jake Fraley-led LSU Tigers need to come out and put a beating on some people. I also need to learn who the hell our other position players are.

With this team that might have been by design, plus the weekday games will be tougher with Tulane, ULL, two games at Notre Dame.

Our out of conference slate may not be as weak as it appears at first glance.
Here is what Aaron Fitt from D One Baseball says about it:
Question: As an LSU fan I get tired of seeing non conference schedules that look like this Cincinnati, Sacramento St., Fordham, and Ball St. That schedule is not going to get the young bats ready for the SEC! What more can be done to help further encourage big time programs to schedule good in the non conference?
Fitt’s reply: Actually, I think Sacramento State and Ball State are both going to be regional teams this year — and both have a number of guys who should be drafted. You’re catching those teams at a good time — they won’t hurt your RPI, and they’ll give you a nice test. Be careful what you wish for though — both of those teams have enough talent to steal a game or two in Baton Rouge if LSU isn’t careful. Cincinnati is still light on the mound, but that team has some talented young players in the lineup — they were very freshman-heavy last year.
So, while it may not be a great non conference schedule it may have a little more in it to help prepare some of the young guys for the SEC schedule than many of us think.
Now, I would expect some growing pains at the plate, but remember these players were not recruited here because they couldn’t hit, so by the end of the year I expect our lineup to be much better than it will be in March.
