Coach said not enough players available to scrimmage. Poche and Walker pitched a simulated outing on the mound.

Greg Deichmann was seen with a swollen, red cheek.

Jordan Romero is in a walking boot.

I didn't see Bryce Jordan but he was at practice yesterday in street clothes.

I'm thinking there could be one more scrimmage this spring unless coach Mainieri says otherwise.

It seems like every baseball season, teams hit a stretch where they have several injuries...hopefully we are getting ours out the way and can get everyone back for the stretch run

We already know Bryce Jordan is out for the year. Greg Deichmann, IMO, will miss at least 8 weeks. Jordan Romero's ankle is substantially swollen and his shoulder is still an issue so I don't expect much from him for awhile. On a positive note, Chris Reid, Brennan Breaux, and Mason Templet all seem fine. I'm happy that we have quality depth on this team so that we are not looking at a much worse situation.

8 weeks? Doubt it. They can fit him with mask/cage.

Deichmann could come back and DH in about 4-5 weeks. He'd wear a face guard. Romero is in a temp cast to help with swelling. Internally, it's not as bad, but I agree this gives a change for his arm to rest as well. I thought Templet would rest yesterday but I'm glad he's well enough to contribute.

I wonder if Deichmann out means that Adams has the lead to be starting DH to get another power bat in the lineup

I don't know about "lead" but he'll certainly get more ABs now. I think Coomes/Reid/Breaux still have a shot. And maybe even Beau J. if PM wants to go with Watson and Breaux in the OF corners.

I can't imagine Beau not starting in LF, at least not opening weekend. Breaux to RF.

I keep seeing you referring to Watson getting significant PT. The kid will be nothing more than a pinch runner/defensive substituftion this year. I'm not certain there's been one positive box score on him all year. Some of your shite is insightful as hell, then you say something like this and it's all erased.
Zero doubt it will be
Beau LF
Adams DH
Breaux RF
On opening night.

I think both Coomes and Templet will get a look at DH as well as Adams. Templet is a lefty so I could see him DHing against right handers. Outfield will be Beau LF, Duplantis CF, and Breaux RF.

Clearly PM will never get the job done and should be fired ASAP...top candidate should be Smoke Laval.

Where did I say he would get significant PT? I'm only saying this helps his chances and that he'd be a good defensive replacement for Deichmann (back when he was struggling in RF). If our lineup is as loaded as it should be, we can sacrifice a bat for a really good glove in the OF. You act like that hasn't happened before.

We scrimmaged with 15 position players yesterday; today would have been 14 at the most.

Don't want to sound like I'm making light of the injuries. All of those guys were/are expected to be solid contributors.

OTOH, it will give some young players a chance to shine.

Does breaux have the arm to play right?

Breaux was a pitcher in high school. He has the strongest arm of the remaining outfielders.
