Stripes win 5-2 over Purple in 6 1/2 innings of what somewhat resembled a baseball game. They started around 4:45 so, I arrived in the top of the 3rd with one out.

Stripes
SS Byrd 1-2 2b BB
CF Foster 1-3 2b RBI
3rd Jordan, Bryce 1-2 2b RBI
1st Papierski 0-1
C Chinea 1-3
LF Jordan, Beau 0-2
RF Sciambra 0-2

Pitchers
Reynolds 4IP 2H 1ER
Domangue 2IP 3H 3ER
Devall .2IP 1H 1ER
Strall .2IP 0H 0ER
Stallings 1IP 0H 0ER

Purple
RF Laird 0-1 RBI
SS Bregman 0-2
LF Fraley 0-3 K
1st Hale 1-2
CF Stevenson 2-3 2HR 2RBI SAC
C Scivicque 0-2
3rd Zardon 1-3 2b RBI
2nd Robertson 0-2 BB

Pitchers
Norman 6.1IP 5H 2ER

Coach Mainieri extended many innings tonight to look at different situations as well as having batters often bat out of order.

The stats are only for innings 3-7. I didn't see any errors and I heard Coach tell the base coaches to run the bases like they had a ten run lead.

Definitely a situational scrimmage. Stevenson had a night

Good stuff, Scuba. Are there any more scrimmages before we play KU? I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

Norman looked pretty good, he only walked two, one scored, and gave up 5 hits while I was there.
Both runs scored in the top of the 3rd, back to back. Other than that, he wasn't threatened.

Sounds like he made a solid case for midweek starter, we should get to see him in action next Wednesday.

No more scrimmages scheduled as far as I know but, who can tell for sure. I usually check LSU baseball on Facebook and Will Davis on Twitter for the schedule.

Yeah, I didn't think so. They've gotten into the routine of 3 on the weekend and 1 midweek, just like the season, so it wouldn't make much sense to change it now.

I figure that tonight was a dress rehersal for Norman. That's why he was the only pitcher for the purple squad. Mainieri also used Devall and Strall just as he will during games and let Stallings close.

Have a feeling that this may be the order on Friday with Chinea in at DH somewhere.

Do not want Fraley batting 3rd.

Agreed, not sure why they no longer like the Leadoff, Laird, Bregman 1st third of the order anymore.

I practiced for Friday night as well. I need to adjust my wardrobe slightly to long underwear and a hooded jacket. Low 40's and 10mph wind in my face Friday for 3+ hours.

I'll be battling the cold with warm clothes and warm drinks.

Laird, Bregman and Hale will be 1-3. I'm thinking Stevenson, Chinea and Scivicque at 4-6
and Zardon, Foster and Robertson 7-9. Maybe switch up Foster and Scivicque. Sorry, Fraley fan club but I think Foster earned the start.

I somewhat agree about Foster. My only pause is that Kansas will start a righty on Friday. And you know how PM can be about matchups

I think you are right about the lefty/righty match-up thing. I don't really have a problem with it to start off the season.
