the problem is that the pitch clock doesn't start till the batter steps in the box. There is a rule to limit the batters time out of the box before the AB starts but they don't enforce it. If you save 10 seconds an AB for pre AB rutines you save 9 minuets at a minimum. If batters can't step out of the batters box and readjust their gloves every pitch you save probably another 10 20 seconds and AB. Take away a couple more mound visits another min or two. You may save 20 minuets a game simply by limiting mound visits and time out of the batters box.
